Hello,

I am completely new to stalking.
Recently joined a gun club, I am in process of rifle training course, after which I would like to compete in long range shooting. Recently deer stalking picked my interest. On several forums, this website was recommended as a trough of knowledge.

Have a question, or enquiry.
I am half way through my FAC rifle course and I would like to experience “stalk to fork” to see if it is for me. Im not happy with just shooting the animal and getting a trophy to hang. Any reasonable place that is not tourist or “no time, full wallet - scratch my ego” oriented, that you can recommend? Im in Hertfordshire but willing to travel couple of hours.

I learned basic butchering of a carcass by watching you tube videos, I was very slow to start with, and not very fast now but it is satisfying! I tend to take the haunches and fillets off as tidily as possible and the rest goes for casseroling or mincing. There's a forum on here covering what and how to cook once you have got your meat!
