A particularly pleasant morning for old FB at the club today.
First half hour waswasted spent reassuring myself that the 9mm Glock really is a very inaccurate “spray and pray” firearm (sorry Smelly - I know you miss them….).
Then a bit of zero checking with the 6.5x55SE confirming my 50m PoIs for 100 and 200 zeros - easypeasy; wot’s not to love about the bunless 6.5?
Best bit by far however was getting three generations of members (the younger two only recently joined) who had only shot .22 rifle and .22 pistol to try the 6.5. As is always the case each of their first shots elicited a subtle blend of shock and delight, culminating invariably in a very wide grin and the obvious need for more which I was only too delighted to supply - in between the very genial banter.
I came away feeling very happy, not for me but emphatically so for the father and son who are now just dipping their respective toes in our beloved sport and who clearly enjoyed a few rounds of the big boys’ rifle. Soooo, if you get the chance chaps, do offer any newbies a chance to try your beloved firearm - a few rounds may well make the difference in converting them - our beleaguered sport needs all the help it can get….
My cup runneth over…
