Nicola Sturgeon deems PM's visit to Scotland - non-essential

Great, cheap stalking & fishing.
Possibly not, given the Natsis' attempts to both destroy land capital values at the same time as 'regulating' out of existence more and more fieldsports in general; oh, and trifling matter of the cost of setting up the SDVLA, the Scoddish Passpord Office, Scoddish Foreign office and the ambassadorial residences and offices required to promote 'brand Krankie' globally, the military and necessary support infrastructure to defend our Interests (permanent security cordon around MacSweens Haggis shop, the Irn Bru- and Tunnock's tea cake production facilities, won't be done on the cheap) along with the other myriad instruments of state as required by a standalone Independent country; all gonna have to be funded from somewhere, and that ain't gonna be Westminster, nor Brussels...🤔

I think I heard right when the lass in the SP was talking about her budget. Did she not say that she could not finalise it until they knew what they would be getting from Westminster in that budget.

That will be correct. The amount provided to Scotland depends on the amounts in the budget for the rest of the UK - that total is used in the Barnett Formula to calculate the budget for Scotland. Therefore, Ms Forbes will not know how many pennies she has to spend and squander until Rishi speaks.
One has to be careful when talking about how much the budget deficit is in Scotland. In reality, most areas in the UK would run a deficit, and the tax raised in Scotland is (I believe) fourth in the various regions of the UK (if one counts Scotland as a region, which understandably will upset people). London and the south-east make by far the most money, and this is dished out to the rest of the country. Those in England who live in, for example, Devon are also running a defecit.
What can't really be argued (although many people in the nationalist movement try to) is that the GERS report annually shows that Scotland is running a deficit of around £15 billion, and that figure will be far, far higher this year due to covid. These figures are produced by the Scottish government and include all aspects of revenue, such as oil revenue (which is remarkably little nowadays. When a nationalist tells you that the oil is worth 2 trillion, they are talking complete and utter balls. One might get to that figure by multiplying the notional barrels of oil reserves by the value of a barrel, but of course that doesn't take into account the cost of getting it out of the ground, or the fact that the country only sees the amount of tax generated on the profit. There have been years recently when the tax return has actually been negative). You'll notice that Nicola Sturgeon never argues with the GERS figures - that is left to conspiracy headbangers in the nationalist movement - and she doesn't because she has no leg to stand on. Scotland runs a deficit and she knows it.

And that Barnett formula means 2 grand per skull funded to Scotland from the UK treasury than is spent in rest of the UK. About 9 billion a year. That props up the idiots in government, and without having to find defence, diplomatic, state pension, treasury etc costs that as a glorified local council the Scottish parliament doesn’t have. And that’s before the 8.6 billion on top this year to support COViD.
That’s how they can fund ‘strategic’ national projects like baby boxes and free tampons. And it’s UK money paying for free childcare, university education, prescriptions etc.
Utterly sick of them and the division they sow. They do not represent me or my values. Living here with them spouting 7 days a week moaning on about how terrible everything is and independence is the golden future eventually gets to you.
Come May, if my fellow countrymen still fail to see through the spin I’m out of here.

Or, even better, get your sh1t together and take back control of your great country from these utter lunatics before it's too late. Scotland is the most beautiful, historical, lyrical, financially-astute, scientifically-minded, and culturally rich place on earth...and you're watching it burn. Get a f'kin grip, my friends.
Now steady on Carl, no need to go overboard😂
but it is beautiful I'll give you that.😆

Kate Forbes.....hmmmm..... that's our wonderful financial wizzkid. Answer to all the economic questions is usually "we should be able to borrow more" then looking lovingly at her esteemed leader - kind of a "mini me" sort of scenario. That's what you get for someone with a history degree who ended up swapping to accountancy and did a couple of years for that great institution Barclays. Might have been more help working in a corner shop or a chippie!

What I find a bit odd is that why some Scottish folks dislike the english so much, when the english seem to like the Scottish so much!

😂😂🤣. Equally reciprocal my friend. 👍

I absolutely cannot wait for an independent Scotland, and for them to be accepted into the EU. My wife is a born and bred Scot, therefore will qualify for an EU passport, as her spouse so will I, as will my children who are half Scottish.....

So thats us out of the EU, Scotland independent..............and I still get an EU passport! Win, win, win! 👍😀🤣

That s the best post I've seen so far, go for it! :thumb:

One things for sure, its going to divide that country like nothing else has. Things got nasty at the last referendum, lives even being threatened. Bit like Celtic & Rangers. Yeah its a divided Union, & the next big one will be the prospect of a united Ireland.
