Night Vision

Haven't tried but not a bad idea. I have a large number of bait stations. They run off automatic feeders with green leds all hooked up to a battery. The problem I first ran into was that the sensor for the leds to come on would be affected by my IR. So when I aimed the rifle the leds would go off. Ended up like a disco and the pigs ran. I must look into that suggestion, it would make life easy. Personally I prefer to hunt them in the fields when they are damaging crops, but feeders are easy and help to keep them away from crops in the busy times of the year.

The report I read said the hunter was sat waiting for Boar. Across the fields he could see the security camera IR floodlight going on and off in a farm yard which lit up the whole yard. He then put two and two together... he also said the pigs got used to the IR going on and off so were not unsettled by it.

I wish I had somewhere suitable to try it out! Your set up sounds great, hope you can gain some benefit from the suggestion.

Hi Tenor
could I ask what shot placement you’ve used in the past , I’ve grassed just a few and have always gone for the head shot which to date has been very successful with .308 heavy soft point out to 80 yds

cheers
