Nomad or Swazi Smock

I got the Swazi when in NZ with work, it's a really good smock and I used it in some very heavy rain, I don't know how long it would last crawling through heather I cant comment on the Nomad.
you only got to look at the cattledog to agree with Thar
Jon2 hows that 25-06 doing

buy both jkts then all scenarios are covered!:) Can defo recommend the swazi clothing to keep you nice and dry from the elements! only downside tho is in humid wet conditions if your covering ground you will get wet from the inside from your sweat as goretex is useless!
Also highly recommend the stoney creek clothing! amazing value for money!

Nomad every time, I do have a swazi as well, the nomad is light as a feather & totally wind & waterproof, had nomad kit for 8 years now and it still performs better that any other stuff I have.

What do you guys do without pockets :???: I looked at a Nomad at the game fair and was impressed but was put off by lack of pockets, am I missing something :???:

it depends on what jacket you saw

the hooded smock has a internal breast pocket and 2 small pockets on the front

quadrider has a large pouch to hold your binos

what do you really need to carry with you for a days stalking?

if you need any more info please give me a shout

cheers

Blimey, where do I start. Obvious things like knife, gloves, drag line, phone, first aid kit, head torch if afternoon stalk, spare ammo etc etc. No Nomad do a zipped version and does that have internal pockets :???:

i dont want to sound daft but
knife : on belt
gloves on yer hands
ammo :in the pocket of you rifle bag
head torch:shoot it properly within day light hours

as for the hill zip smock i will check the pockets

I have a zippered Nomad jacket, bought it at this years game fair, I liked the idea of the smock but hate hoods on coats so had to go for the zip option. Very happy with it so far, two good deep conventional pockets on the outside. On the insdie there is one pocket with a zipper and another with a velcro fastening. Almost forgot there is also a large 'game' pocket across the kidny area.

Only (minor) complaint with it is that it is too warm for summer work, but that is what I would expect from a decent fleece.

I too have that Nomad 3 season fleece as well as their stalkers coat both have plenty of pockets and have proved to be excellent at keeping the water out. They also dry very quickly if you happen to have to spend the day in inclement weather.

They are both very warm. something I'll not be complaining about later on today whilst sat in one of my high seats.

knife : on belt - Don't like dangly knives on a belt
gloves on yer hands - not for warmth, for gralloch
ammo :in the pocket of you rifle bag - spare mag in pocket
head torch:shoot it properly within day light hours - I never shoot after dark unless lamping vermin. I use a head torch as sometimes it drops too dark after an afternoon stalk while extracting a shot beast. Have you never experienced this :???:

Thanks for the other replies guys, I'll have a look at the zipped smock.

Of course if you stalk on a FC lease you need a small rucksack to carry all the equipment, first aid kit, Survival blanket, spade to bury gralloch, harness for removing large deer with a drag bag, bringsel/collar for your dog and head touch to get into position in a high seat before first light  etc etc.

Well I am glad to report that I wore my Nomad Quadrider fleece and trousers in the recent cold spell up here in Scotland with temperatures dropping to -9 Deg C and cannot fault the clothing.
On one occaision I had artic white cottons over the top for crawling through the snow and even after sitting for 30 minutes at a time, I was never uncomfortable.

Swazi Thar Anorak everytime, the best item of clothing that I own for hill stalking. An incredibly well thought out coat. When on the hill I just wear a Swazi micro shirt and my Thar anorak and Swazi dri-back pants. Almost sounds like an advert for Swazi!

Perfect for stopping the blood going down the back of your neck.

Is there any UK stockists that can supply the Dri Back pants or other Swazi trousers?
Or do they ship to the UK off the Swazi web site??

Bush wear used to but don't now, they may still be able to if you asked though.
I usually get any Kiwis that I employ in the summer to bring some across when they come over, saves a fortune!

I’m sure we have discussed this previously but anyway, I bought a hooded Nomad smock with the full length Zip at the Game Fair this year.
Quite a lot of cash and as someone else said I was very tempted by the Harkilla kit which in my opinion make the best trousers available.
In the end went for the smock due to its length.
I have worn it a lot, in filthy pouring rain all day and was perfectly dry, the only one in the party I might add.

Also, interestingly, as someone mentioned, Gore Tex, whilst it is the best us humans have come up with to date actually does not breath that well.
In fairness to manufacturers, the human body is an incredible thing, and no man made clothing is going to be able to compete with how the body regulates temperature. So one is always going to sweat when heaving up a hill and get cold from the damp shirt on your back when you stop.

That said, the Nomad really does breath, but to an extent. I had a dew on my back where I was perspiring and it was working its way through and condensing in the cold air outside for all to see!

Very warm in the cold weather we have just had and wind proof too.

I do like the cuffs of the Swazi though.
