BBC article on some survey in Norfolk and it's overrun with deer and needs immediate action to control them.

I'm willing to do my bit

Anyone know anyone doing deer control out there, I quite like the Fens

Numbers have jumped since 2005...
WTF is the "key predators such as wolves are extinct" about ? They were extinct a bloody long time before 2005.

I have nothing but respect for anyone shooting reds in some of those areas...having had to pull fallow and sika out or through ditches (which were dry) I can think of much better things to do with my time then trying that with a Red. Also, if people who believed the BBC ate venison there would be much more demand 👍

They'd rather reintroduce wolves and stick to munching avocado....

The Broads Authority is not too popular locally. They do much the same as the old Great Yarmouth Port and Haven Commissioners but charge boat owners, both private and commercial, very much more. By the way, weblyish, the Fens start about an hour's drive to the west of the Broads. that is on a rare day when the A47 is not being mended somewhere.

@Tom.suffolk04 is the person to give an informative answer.

Another drone survey is/has been carried out so it will be good to compare the data concerning more recent numbers and what impact all the hard work culling has had on numbers.
I have been involved in organising the drone survey and a deer management project across the broads. Any questions let me know I would be happy to help.

The member Norfolk Deer Search could of given some valuable input, but got banned, but what I do know is he is more than doing his bit, and his bargain cull weekends on cwd and muntjac have been super successful for his clients and when he isn't doing that he is on the reds and fallow

100% been up recently for one of his cull weekends. Three guns 18 deer in the larder.
His cull weekends alone have taken out 85 deer from one 300 acre farm and there still more there. On top of that I’ve seen pictures of a larder full of red deer.
His favourite phrase of “get your tits in the sink” springs to mind.
You can use drones as much as you like but drones don’t shoot them (yet).
We all just need to get out there and shoot more deer. It’s that simple.

I shoot the middle of the Broads and over the last few weeks we've had over 20. It's kept my patch in control, it's a never ending task. We see an occasional red, predominantly Muntjac and a spattering of CWD . We've left the roe at 6. Cull this year has been 52 on 800 acees
