Norfolk jollys

Wells, as above, is a nice little old-fashioned sort of spot with two good chippies on the front, opportunity for a miniature train ride down to the lifeboat station,

Miniature train has gone unfortunately, a shiny new lifeboat station has been built though.

Cley Spy is a great shop if you are looking for new or secondhand bins or spotting scope, gallery next door if you need an excuse.

I have to ask: What are “dole poles” and “sympathy sticks”?

K
That strikes me as old hat (pre 2019) as according to the BBC, something like a 1/3 of under 60’s who could work have been signed off by their GP with what amongst to mental fragility stress resulting from C-19 lockdowns. Basically they are unable to engage with the everyday social interaction.

No pole required - just a GP assessment via the dog & bone.

Frenchies Fish & Chips in Wells-next-Sea. Cookies Crab Shack at Salthouse used to be top draw for really good value fresh seafood, not sure if this is his last year opening or not...it's an experience in itself to go there.. especially with three kids, get the oldest one to ask if they do burgers

Walking sticks used by able bodied persons to avoid working and stay 'on the sick'.

Signed off because they cut their fingernails too short....

I do love a visit to Norfolk though.

Been on the Broads many times, got friends there, had my first deer there thanks to NDS.

Made some friends gaming online during lockdown and been to see them many times since.

I just always forget to go to Thetford.

Holme next the Sea beach. Once you've crossed the golf course lots of space for everyone even in school hols.

The best bits of Norfolk are the bits that visitors haven't discovered yet.

(In case that sounds odd coming from someone who must surely count as a visitor when in Norfolk, I should just add that I lived there as a child).

We need names Tim...! 😆

I can say with honest conviction that Cromer pier is further away from Sheringham beach than it looks. And it feels even further when you have walked the entire way across shingle.

We stayed at West runton last year. Theres a cafe next to the beach and toilets. Most important. The beach was rock pools etc one side of the wave breaks and sandy the other. Lovely old school holiday.

You can always nip to Great Yarmouth, some good chip shops around, but it is a bit trashy.
manic there with the new river crossing being built, unless you like old seaside town fronts with the usual machines drawing money out of your pocket I would miss. Luckily I was born the good side of the river, although, as a young man it was a great place in the summer:evil::lol::cool:

Just a couple of weeks ago, the beach at Gorleston was voted one of the best in the world. They must have visited a different Gorleston to the one I know.
easy Len, Gorleston beach is lovely , there's a good pint to be had a the pier, breakfast at JJ's.
