Does anyone know of a gun shop who sells Norma in 223 and 6.5 x 55 swedish in West Yorkshire? I am after 50 gr in 223 and 120 gr in 6.5
Thanks in advance

Shame you are in yorks, as Paul from Case Prep near Bedford is excellent for custom load building.
He does my 6.5 and 243 both with sub moa accuracy.
I typically take my rifle to him once and he will ‘builds’ a load for me that meets my needs (speed / ME) and will tweak it until it’s super accurate out of my rifle.

When I need more he simply dials up the mix and voila!

so he loads the ammunition for you to collect?

So we frequently read advice on social media not to shoot somebodies home loads as it is perceived as risky so how does what Paul from Case Prep near Bedford is doing differ from shooting somebodies home loads?

I have no idea. He offers a load development service, he has all of the necessary programmes on his computer, etc so I assume he knows what he is doing.

I have bought from him for 3-4 years now and not had a single issue and everything is super accurate.

Give him a call if you are unsure - he also stocks a great amount of reloading gear if you want to do it yourself.

I would guess that, like DMC Custom Cartridges, Case Prep is designed around taking your own rifle and building a specific and dedicated load for it, chronographed and tested. Alternatively they might offer hand-loaded ammunition built to CIP specifications and suitably proof-tested.

The advice re: using others home loads is because they were likely built for an entirely different rifle, and the process was completed by an amateur, offering no comeback in terms of any problems subsequently encountered. Anything you do in this scenario is entirely at your own risk.

A bit like the difference between having your car serviced by a main dealer or professional independent, as opposed to a bloke down the road who can perhaps do little more than wield a spanner!

This is what Paul does.
Tell him what you want, give him the rifle and you get back perfect ammunition.
It’s a bit more than buying factory stuff, but what he makes for me I can’t buy in the shops, so 🤷‍♂️

is not all commercial ammunition built to cip specifications? so what ever he is making cannot be over cip specifications or it would fail proof, that is if he actually gets it proof tested which is not a cheap process.
do you see the proof test report for each batch of ammo you buy or his certificate of product liability insurance?

otherwise no different then to an experienced reloading mate doing the same for somebody, via gifting the ammo which general opinion is a no no.

I just use factory, but David at DMC has been in the business for 30 years. I’ve had clients who have used DMC and been very happy with the results.

I’m pretty sure Norma have discontinued the 120gr ballistic tip and replaced it with what they call Tipstrike, which is a 140gr. Good luck in your search
