NRA RCO requalification

Hi, just wondering if any members have had problems recently when requalifying for their RCO ticket with the NRA?

Three members of my club have all tried and failed twice, with their only option now being a trip to Bisley for humiliation and re-education.

Worryingly, they said some answers which were marked right on the first attempt were marked wrong on the second sitting. I didn’t witness this first hand, but have no reason to doubt the individuals involved.

Has anyone else had a similar experience, or know if there’s an issue with the site?

Thanks!

David

I never bothered to renew mine as I don’t run MOD ranges or HO approved ranges

Colleagues who have renewed have reported similar ‘complications’

They have run HO ranges for bloody years

Email or ring Kelly King in the training office if there is an issue with the system.

To avoid any confusion, this is for people renewing their existing RCO qualification.

The requalification test is online, you have two attempts to pass. If you fail both times you will need to attend the NRA approved course to retain your certification.
Yes online renewal.
Some months ago a friend rang me three times one Sunday afternoon to confirm his answers as he was filling in his renewal online. He passed but I did comment " Why ask me" as I had let mine drop five years ago.

i let all mine run out during covid , i had them all target/match rifle - moving target-sporting rifle-ML rifle &pistol - gallery rifle and pistol

sadly as i did not renew i have to re sit them all , i really do not have the time for that so i'm not renewing , i'd do the online thing but full courses again no thanks.

I had to do mine a 2nd time as I overlooked renewal. This was before they sent expiry date reminders . I swore I’d not do it a third time as it’s a full-on 2-day course that is in no way a doddle.

I seem to recall 4 candidates dropped out 3/4 of the way through the first day!

yeah , i had the qual for over 20 years and only had it to benefit others really

feel i've done my dues , i would do it again if it wasn't so onerous but it is so bugger it !

ditto. except I've no interest in ever doing it again.

frankly you shouldn't have to , a quick 30 min teams to to inform you of any new pertinent info that may have changed but that should be it

we have the same carry on in the crane industry , time served experienced guys leaving because they are having to be retested from scratch despite 20-30 years of experience , the industry is suffering because of it.

Is the renewal an open book exam? I recently passed my RSO which was open book with a 70% pass rate so would be hard to fail unless you didnt know where to look in the manual.
