opinion required what non toxic bullet to use

For reasons unbeknown until now, I have been instructed that only non toxic bullets can be used for stalking on the estate I lease a few days, for this and future years.

That said, I have a 7mm 08 and appreciate opinions fro SD members who use or have used non toxic 7mm 08 bullets for red deer stag stalking. As I have a quantity of reloads with lead heads which I will be using for my roe stalking I will not be embarking on a reloading initiative just now. Opinions and advice most welcome.

120gr TTSX will do the job fine. I’ve used TTSX in everything from 22cf to 30 cal and no arguments from the deer.

Fox are also good. Loaded rounds in 7-08 available from Edinburgh Rifles.

Home loaded, Hasler Ariete also first class.

Certainly been impressed by the Sako Powerhead Blade in 308W with 162gn bullet. No idea if they make 7-08 factory ammo though but in your shoes I'd be looking to see if they do

Have used fox ammo in my 30-06 - with no issues- also same point of impact as federal powershok, so that is quite helpful for me.

I've found pereguin easy to load for, and good velocities.
I prefer the shape of them over fox too, purely aesthetic reasons though.

Yew tree bullets are the best I have shot by a long way but not currently available as loaded ammunition.

I have been using the Fox 130 gn bullet in my 7x57. Deer just fall over dead either on the spot or after a short stagger. Meat damage is minimal. Have shot Red, Roe and Sika.

Many estates, land owners and forestry companies are now insisting on lead free ammo. For some landowners its simply a personal decision, but for many it will be a commercial reason driven by external contracts, agreements etc. many of which will be subject to environmental audits etc.

It does not answer your question directly but I had a discussion with someone recently who found that mixing copper and standard lead bullets ( cup and core ) that after using the lead the perfectly acceptable grouping of the copper opened right up. I believe it was a .308 win they was using. Plus, I also think I have heard/ read this before.
It might not be the case for you if you mix the two bullet types but something you may want to check once you have settled on your particular copper bullet.
Copper bullets do seem to prefer a cleaner barrel.

Shame they aren't and you don't reload as I would also suggest Yew Tree and yes I use them in 7mm-08 ( love it )
