Out last night.

Forgot to add, a Sparrowhawk had a snack at last light, I watched it stoop & then it came to within twenty yards of me, perching on a small outcrop of rock to tear the item to bits ... then the all night background churring of the Nightjar started, moon was blacked out by the overcast, bonus.

Last night here was a waste of time.
When the rain stopped at 11:30 I went out. Fog and loud bloody music from some party booming everywhere 🤬

Nice fireworks show last night, out over Liverpool airport way .. just before the sunset I could see the full height of Blackpool tower & the roller coaster ride next to it from my elevated spot.

was out last night you could hear the boy racers trying to impress
got three in the end a dog and two vixens by there size all were this years young
a good start to another year on a game shoot

Well, just for a change I reverted to daytime calling and a rascal ran right up to me from my 9 o’clock - quick spin to my left with quads just in time to see his tail disappearing into the cover, bugger!
Kept calling and right on cue he walked straight into my sights - sometimes it actually does go to plan (B).

Aye - I love the developments in electronic sights and thermal but I do sorta hanker for those far-off simple days when I didn’t have to wrestle with the Pard’s many buttons in moments of incoming fox-induced panic but then I wouldn’t have some, but definitely not all, of the video memories to look back on.
Have to say I really did enjoy the daylight success though - they are amazing creatures and seeing them in full colour charging straight at you, then scarpering to cover but their innate curiosity bringing them out again is really something special - even after all these years and a lot of foxes.
