Out last night, second outing this year. First foray was a short one and blanked.
Anyway, first perm stood about at bottom of a long upward slope field, popping the little caller as used by Foxyboy43 on a few times. Works great, but nothing appeared. Sacked it off after an hour.
Off to the second venue and after much pottering about had a vixen, which popped out of the hedge into the sheep field. Back to truck and spotted one curled up in a hedge on next door farm, number two down. Went over to look and another fox calling from far end of field, number three.
Off to third perm and walked down long track, first field and one mousing about quite close, up on sticks as quickly as I could and a big chunky dog down. Far end of same field three fox playfighting, dropped two but the third wisely got out of dodge like a startled gazelle. Text from farmer 'was that bang you?' he had only heard one of the shots.
Six in all, a pretty lively night. Glad to get home and light the fire, wind was a bit cutting though not baltic. Used the 6.5 as I am a bit smitten with it still.
