Out last night.

Sticks and stones…..
Anyhoo he really was a big fella! Obviously discretion and me having better taste than you lot, my photo conceals the dangly bits but it was a dog - vegetarian by it’s mouthful of grass but a “big” dog for sure!
The adjacent ewes will sleep better for his long sleep…

Big lad FB. Compared to your smart dog. How tall at the shoulder is your lab?

Managed a couple last night.
First spot one came charging into the caller ...but alas it was the wrong side of the river.
Headed home and stopped on an adjacent farm.
No 1 picked up as it headed over in my direction (70 yard head shot).
2 dogs calling so chased them around a bit but they wouldnt come into the call and I couldnt get close enough.
Picked a second fox up about 50 yards away but he managed to head behind the bank and came out about 170 yards away, he dropped on the spot so left him for the farmer to pick up this morning.
Fox 1 not suitable for a pic after a 90 grain soft point .243 in the forehead.

I’ve had a couple in the past that had a gob full of grass, usually when they’ve run a short distance before falling over.
Ken.

She is very petite - see attached photo I will have you know took us about 15 sodding minutes to get ‘cos she sits down every time she stops.
Add an inch as tape end is tucked under the table so looks like 21 inches.
I need a malt, Lady FB is already pouring a large gin….

So it was a fair fox. Well done.

I'll think of a new challenge for Mrs FB and you tomorrow 😁

After last weeks goose kill and the toothless old dog fox rolled over i had my doubts he was the culprit and sure enough had a text a couple of days later to say the carcass had been dragged about 30yds into the field. Spent 3 freezing hours that night leaned up against a tree watching over it to no avail. Left it a night and had another session, bingo a bandit turned up, had a sniff around the carcass and she was nailed. Dog and a vixen so should be job done for a while.

Another text today to say another goose has had its head pulled off ffs!
Told the farmer to leave it where the other one is and im off out for a look later.

Someone dumped the remains of a Sika in the stream alongside my gate a couple of nights ago. I retrieved a hind leg and thigh and a large lump of flesh from the bank. I set out the leg and thigh where I had had three foxes lately but didn't sit out, and next morning it was gone. I set the lump of meat out last night and waited, nothing! I should have known better, I was always told that if a fox has a good visit to a hen-house and had a belly full, it won;t come back the next night, but the night after. Sure enough, tonight one turned up earlier than usual, grabbed the lump of meat and dissappeared. I had thought that he had taken the first find back to the vixen, who might be underground with cubs and might have come back last night, but no!
I made my way back to the van and saw another fox coming towards me about 160 yards away. I had set up the other chair facing that way earlier, as I had seen a couple there last night. Bang flop, but not a clean kill. It struggled about a bit and didn't present itslf for another shot untill it was 200 yards away. No 3rd shot needed!
Number four since New Year!

Had another couple last night. 2 more dogs, both came to vixen in heat call, one from a very long way out. Watched him mooching his way across the valley for 10 mins or so and he came in a really wide loop. Shot it when he stopped to sniff his previously fallen comrade. Pic is where they both dropped. That’s 3 dogs and no vixens off the new place now.
