Out last night.

Working on the truck in the rain this morning, I don't mind so much when it is in pursuit of excellence, :norty:, just waiting for two eyebolts off Amazon tomorrow.
I have missed being able to shoot to my rearward these last couple of months, So I have bunged up a rail .......IMG_E0007.webp

#7 and #8 tonight
Plan was a baited area on my shoot but whole hill was covered in fog.
Next option was a small holding with chickens after a few minutes of calling had a large dog fox running in to 100yards20260122_205958.webp
Next destination was a farm below my shoot.
Again a bit of calling brought in a small vixen. She was a bit cautious and would not come any closer. So shot her at 16020260122_214753.webp

The forecast up here at the moment is fecking rain mist and more rain for the next week :mad: pretty much fecked at the mo
It better clear up from 31/1 - I’m staying with a pal in Ladybank for the week and stalking/pigeon shooting until I am sick, like really sick of it…

i got out Tuesday evening rain was forecast for around 9.00pm
as usual the thermal told me it was coming (picture getting worse, more so facing into the wind)
got a vixen out of a pair i spotted but the dog was so wary it was untrue
I've found normally as a pair, shoot one and the other doesn't go far at all
anyway it started raining so i called it a night
hopefully ill catch up on the dog when weather allows play again :(

IMG_0343.webpGetting out as much as possible when the weather allows
First lambs are in the sheds and most of my farms will be starting to lamb in March
Hell of a lot of foxes around this year for whatever reason…the average night this week has been 5
Last night early on fog was rolling in and out on top of the hills,I was following one fox, that I’m presuming was a vixen, hoping to catch up with against a forestry bank for a backstop when the fog rolled in again and I lost visibility to shoot with the lamp
Behind me I heard a dog fox barking and looked around with the thermal and could see him coming along the same path the other fox and I had taken
Nose to the ground and barking every few yards,I stayed still and he eventually realised something else was there at less than 20 paces from me!
Still no chance of a shot with the cloud/fog
He circled around upwind of me,picked up the line again and across the hill barking all the way

It's been unfit to go out all week and I'm not going out tonight as I'm shooting tomorrow so have an early start.
I have, however, just claimed a consolation prize. Saw a pair of foxes when having a look out of the window with the thermal. Unlocked the cabinets and got the .222 ready. The larger of the two came through the hedge into the field behind the house and sat down waiting for its mate about 140 yards away. The smaller one, which I assume is the vixen, followed a couple of minutes later. She stood against the hedge 120 yards away, perfect for the 222 and Drone Pro 10x. The usual resounding smack from the 50 grain Sako SP may have upset the neighbours so it can stay there for an hour or two.
