Out last night.

After all that I feckin' missed. I shouldn't have taken the shot, everything felt wrong.

Soon as I entered through gateway, was 99% sure could see top of head above tall grass. Got on scope to confirm (though thats another story, but very unimpressed so far, think I need to tweak how I've set it up). Managed to confirm but only really as it began to move as it sussed me. Couldn't get set quick enough on trigger sticks. Was off balance, scope not properly focused when fox stopped face on about 90yd. Should have just let him go on but I rushed a shot instead 😡🤬 prick. Didn't look or sound like a hit, still looked but no sign. Packed up straight away, back to van. No point once my heads gone like that. Fuming at myself & scope. Thought I'll check footage, as i know the auto record kicked in when I zeroed....nah, course it feckin' didn't tonight. Bollocking arseholes, im off to bed.
Hahaha, I feel your pain, I took a shot at 160 yards tonight and clipped a wire fence 🤷🏻‍♂️😂, fox didn’t seem to know what it was and just trotted off into the oilseed rape, bit of a bummer as I’ve not seen many gingers lately, did see a cracking roe buck so I might take a lad out for a go at that on Sunday, so not a total waste of time, if I’m lucky he might give me a go of his new 6.5 gaymoor

I had a few hours of fun on the rats at the pig units with the air rifle.
Finished on 77, but good golly miss Molly, it ended up a drawn-out affair, no great quantity about, but I ground out a decent number over the two units, pretty chilly by the time I packed up, still is this morning tbf, old hands were cold when I just got back from the dog walk/training sesh...

Edit; @BenBhoy , you're a bit rusty, mate. Practise will turn you into a well oiled machine :norty:

Not seen many foxes last week or two - but just had a feeling - so gathered a dew of the lads to man various points - some usually productive and some quite spots
Well my pal has had 5 ! - A litter and an adult

Great result
Was he overlooking an earth ?

Been out the last week chasing a few particular deer but the amount of hares, grouse, and even a few foxes have been unreal, even a handful of leverets on the roads some that narrowly avoided tires!

Had the pleasure with meeting and reintroducing Smellydog with a lost old friend after a discussion earlier in the week in regards to the area I currently shoot and he used too shoot, it was nice too meet you even if it was short I hope you enjoyed your trip around the area!

Wee doe that stuck around this morning that allowed me too get a photo, must of stood around for 2-3 minutes.

I realise Out yesterday and today might of been better suited, I admit I've been awake since 4am

Thank you so much @Sol for getting me back in touch with an old friend that was very kind to me years ago now. We have a new friend now as well!
Good photo, we saw two roe this morning, one were a decent young buck. Not sure on the other.
There are loads of hares up there, foresters will be going nuts. There was a deer fenced plantation near three locks, I bet young hares can get through that wire!
Many years ago just use to see blue hares up high mark.
Best wishes. Keep the pictures coming 👍🏻

Another single Charlie..called him in from 200 yds on mouse call and left over rice.
Saw 2 others but they weren’t interested.
Eagle eyes members will notice the caller just above him whilst he was eating!

Just had a couple of hours - really listening and watching woodcock to see what sort of numbers are about
Anyway i had 3 red deer come out below me not 15 yards away - in the dark they just stood looking at me for an age @75
There are 3 stags roaming around here at the minute - they seem to do this every summer just as the season closes!!
Meanwhile, a big group of hinds started to appear more regularly - they are a bit transient but I’ve seen them a few times now

Out last night on a couple of new farms. Farmer wants the foxes gone so have to do as they command :)

It was like daylight with the moon so drew a blank on farm 1. Got to farm 2 and after about 30 seconds heard a curlew .... reinforces the need to deal with the foxes as well.

Spotted a fox under one of the woods so moved into position for 1 to become 2. Got set up and dropped the first at 190 and then after a minute or so trying to get a shot on the second one she presented a shot at about 100 yards.

Nos 17 & 18.

I have plenty of blanks as well mate...just helps having a few new patches to go at 👍 I will need to leave a few for when you come down so you can shoot a Welsh fox or two 👍:)

I love the sound of a curlew...amazed they are still holding on round us...long may that continue.
