Out last night.

Well, been baiting for a few nights and last night I went with more bait at 19.00.
Charlie already in field when I got there but soon went as I put bait out.
He was back before I’d finished spreading the bait and watched me from 100 metres as I headed out the field. All this through Spotter.
Before I left the field I stood with my back to an old shippon and watched.
2 foxes (Looked like this years) came under a gate 25 metres to my left and came within 3 metres of me before they saw me, they promptly turned and went back under the gate and back into the field. They stopped as a pair about 50 is metres away and sat watching me.
I went through the fence and home.
Got all my **** together for sitting out tonight, including flask and hip flask.
Went out to load car at 17.30 and neither of two fobs would open the car!
Used the manual key that only opens the passenger door and with some grunting (‘cause I’m knackered) got across and inserted a fob….brilliant….but the mirrors didn’t unfold!
Couldn‘t risk getting stuck somewhere (Wifey at funeral in Guildford) so reluctantly abandoned the job, poured the coffee down the sink and got the whisky out.
Doh.
Ken.

Bloody hell Ken. Always something hey.
Hope you get sorted.
I just got in from a stroll up to my bait, it's a short walk from home, in the fresh snow.
Didn't need NV. Just took the rifle and binoculars . Just saw rabbits. Beautiful to be out.
To be honest I feel quite fatigued. Went bed early. Think I've been doing to much....
It’s easy to do too much when you’re enjoying yourself. Wifey said so anyway!
Well, didn’t manage to sort the car but got it to open and the mirrors unfold, just not locking it in case it won‘t open again.
Can‘t get appointment with autospark until next Wednesday! Just afta leave it unlocked. (Someone might take it 😘) .
Ken.

Somebody had to make an effort tonight, (Had 1& half hours in bed at lunchtime today so I could stay awake after 20.00 tonight.
Persisting down so thought I’d just take bait and sit out another night….. got there at 18.30 and put some dog biscuits and dog meat down (Had rifle just in case) and went back to car. Got the old XQ23 and went back to look over gate, Charlie‘s already circling the nosh.
Gave him a couple of minutes to settle then swapped the spotter for the rifle with scope and laser torch.
50+ yards and he looked up to the laser.
40 grain Sierra BT went in just below chin and slightly to his right. No exit.
No phone so had to bring him to my shed for photo shoot. 19lbs dog which is quite big for this area.
Looks (Or did) healthy as we get a few mangy ones.
Back home for 19.30.
Ken.

Have you got a boat or punt?. Still raining down South close to 40mm now. If you do sit and wait alternatively squelch around in waders!

5:30 this a.m. damned cold and honking.
Not a living creature was abroad except this oul eejit who soon packed and went home. I now see and appreciate the advantages in going out in PJs!

On a local A road last week and passed a rookery and the birds looked like they were renovating the nests.
Ken.

Bitter wind round Manc too tonite. Shoulda worn gloves when I went baiting.
Charlie sat waiting 200 metres away.
Ken.
PS Hopefully (If backstops not frozen again) zeroing new Arken Zulus tomorrow.

Glad your vixen hung around. I had a dog last night, the vixen was 50m from it when i took the shot. It bolted off up the field and despite an hours wait in the freezing cold that was the last I saw of her. They certainly aren't predictable all the time.

Some birds are like that, first sign of trouble and they are off!

I've got a fox coming just after 1am, slightly better than 3am!
Hopefully it likes these chicken flavoured dog biscuits going off it looking for just one more!
Hopefully it'll start coming earlier.
It doesn't look like the elusive vixen that stares at the camera!
