Out last night.

I had the IR on this chap a couple of times before pulling the trigger, no backstop initially.

No eye shine from IR each time, what's that about? 850 torch on decent beam strength, not had it before.

Not that he has to worry about it now 💥 but its intriguing, didn't take the time to look at his eyes after as the heavens opened 😑

I had a vixen in Dec like that but just the one but after I shot her I checked and she only had the one , this one could be blind

Had a good night last night . Three large dog foxes, one of which was running off with a lamb in it’s mouth, he wouldn’t turn when I shouted so at 60yards there was only one thing for it , The Texas heart shot ! Not very professional I know but at 60yards with the 222 it dropped on the spot but the poor lamb was dead IMG_0917.webp

Looks plenty professional to me buddy.

Bit of a panic call from farmer, who has just turned his ewes and newborns out from the lambing barn. Two fox prowling about among them. Dropped four last night, three in among the stock and the last in an adjacent field.
204 does the job, no fuss and bother about wind or aiming off - unless its howling out.
Very thankful farmer on the blower this morning. I will be receiving a whole one, ready butchered and vac packed shortly. I insist on paying but get a special price.
Tidy.

A few weeks ago, I shot a fox that was no bigger than you would expect in August/September. I surmised that it had a bad start in life perhaps if a parent had been shot. There will be more! I just had the 17th since New Year.

Rat session last night, and slim pickings at this new site. Managed six but really had to search about for them. Tricky shots on most, threading the pellet through the many gate bars in the shed.

2 foxes for me on neighbouring estate last night, only went to have a look through his (gamekeeper) new pulsar merger binoculars, chucked the rifle in for a quick drive around and had 2 in the bag fairly quick. Very jealous of his mergers too 😑 on another level to my xp50 spotter.

Well there is "Busted", and then there is completely and utterley "Shamed", Sat in the motor last night in position waiting for the stair rods to stop leathering the roof, 19:50 it stopped abrubtly, clear starry sky ... opened door gently, raised Mergers up to eyes ........... F*** ME!! one standing 10 yards away ........... needless to say no sign of it when I had fired up the thermal on the rifle.:oops::oops:

I was there last night and there 04:00 this morning and watched it coming light.
Lovely morning but SOD THE LITTLE BARRRSTID...!

Hahaha. I feel the pain Finnbear

Reminds me of a night I was out with my old mucker Grizzly Addams over at barfrestone after a lamb killer, with my 22 hornet,we stalked up inside and along to get in front of a small hedge to wait for the said fox that is according to grizzly comes through or over the fence 90 yds away perfect we thought, all is quiet not a sighting ( this well well before NV or thermals ) flicking out the red lamp with the battery on yer back.

Time went by, I started to have the occasional squeak up and still nothing, after what seems an age we agreed to move on, we turned around and there he his sitting 6 foot away between us and the hedge just staring at a couple of dipsticks making a load of funny noises 🙄🤣🤣🤣
Needless to say it took one or two more visits to catch up with him 🤣🤣
