Out last night.

Hi,
Yes bait going, I collected just skin and a few ribs when I went this afternoon.
Reckon I must have given up to soon tonight but after 3 hours and the constant shoulder pain it was no fun.
Cheers, Ken.
Went back to the farm to check the bait yesterday at 1300 and the torso was laying where I left it, untouched….so pleased I didn’t sit around for another couple of hours the night before.

Well got an offer from the grandson to drop me off and pick me up save me driving on bad roads etc, got to the perm app 6.30pm got the caller in position and got settled and let things settle , wind not ideal coming over from my front left, at app 7.20pm fox appeared slightly behind and to my right but this area no safe shot, I turned to see where it as heading and it was gone lol ,thinking it would use the wind I was watching to my left as I am sitting in a clump of rocks and gorse but no show. About 5 mins later I see one moving slowly through the reeds away from me , tried all different calls, not interested then remembered Smelly using the hare call so scrolled down to hare sounded more like Foxyboys demented duck lol ,but it did the trick it turned and slowly made its way towards the caller , the reeds are dense so was only getting a glimpse now and then and need it to break cover, and sure enough after what seemed a lifetime it broke onto the field , IR on safety and sent the 55gn BK sleeping pill on its way with the resounding thud coming back and down it went, had another couple come in but would not commit to the calls and very wary ,but they will be there next time.

Are you still watching or did the GS remember to pick you up? 😘

Nice looking fox, looks in perfect condition, even more perfect being deed!
Ken.

Thought there would have been multiple posts about snow this morning!
We awoke to 60 mm on top of car.
Ken.

A couple of inches in my part of Cumbria. Wanted to get out and check for tracks but it is drizzling here as well. Soon be gone.

Missed a sitter out the window last night. It was snowing hard and I just couldn’t quite get a clear view through the scope.

Plus I’d only been home about an hour from taking my old lab on her final journey to the vets. Head not in the right place and shouldn’t have even bothered getting rifle out.

Rotten thing to have to do, Just have to think of all the good times you had with her.

Does anyone (Apart from me) use 40 grain bullets for foxing. Assuming 22 cf?
Ken.
Used to use 40gns Vmax in the triple deuce many years ago KB but found them to be a bit too explosive so moved to 50gns Vmax trundling along at just north of 3100 fps - utterly devastating bullet on foxes. Never went back….

Guys can I ask a question of the Zulu guys, what rail are you using on your centrefires and what is the field of view like many thanks

Hi,
I’m on my second Z now and it came with a 20 moa mount, so I use it.
No problem zeroing, reticle is slightly below half way up screen.
I don’t use PIP but when switched on it takes up too much of upper screen for field use, imo.
Ken.

Thanks Ken how do you find the screen and the field of view

Hi,
How do I find the screen?
As regards what?
I like everything about my Zulus 5-20.
I did contemplate buying a 3-12 thinking the only difference between the two models would be FOV and magnification.
Reading some reports suggests that picture quality isn’t as good with the 3-12, more at higher end of mag.
I can’t confirm that.
I shoot mainly short range, like 30metres to 100 metres and the only complaint I have is the glow from the ir. It’s caused problems in the past but as I’ve a couple of thermal scopes that’s no longer an issue for me.
I’d quite happily use it at all times of day and night.
Cheers, Ken.
