Since the caller is not bringing anything in, tonight I decided to just sit and wait. After about an hour, a jackal shows up in the high grass, eating grasshoppers from the low branches of olive trees. Let’s try to bring it on the mulched part of the field with a squeaking mouse sound, I thought. It was totally uninterested, as if it was not hearing it. Ten minutes later, out of the high grass it came.

First fox I’ve shot in a good few years now after having a bit of a break. Sat up yesterday evening and called for about half an hour, this one came trotting along at about 100 yards. Think I may have the bug again!

Been out stalking this evening, eventually shot an old buck after having the crosshairs on 3 different bucks , the first 2 were unsafe backstops. Eventually I got onto this buck that I had seen rutting a few days ago, he hadn't moved , still in the exact place with his doe.

Nipped up to the plantation for a quick wander around one field that sees a bit of muntjac traffic, sure enough spotted 2, one not safe and the other after last knockings so no result but i counted 7 hares which are not welcome.
Not sending precious .243’s at them so went home and switched rifles and went back and shot the lot, contentious but zero tolerance policy here.
