Dog and vixen together last night - camera pinged just as I was about to climb into bed so they got the good news out the bedroom window.

Just 223. Sako game heads though so don’t tend to get many explosive exits but turn the insides to soup. They don’t generally run far!

I got a pass to redeem myself.
A change of tactic was needed so went behind farm instead of in front of it.
with no sign tried a few calls on caller no luck. Left it a while and gave a few squeaks on my hand and this boy came in under gate.
Hopefully the one I missed but will never know

Fogged off tonight, maybe time to invest in a hideously expensive Noxpic thermal rifle scope

I jinxed it. Hit one last night and watched it jump around a second or two then lie still. Walked up to it about 10 mins later and flicked the headtorch on and it bloody legged it - albeit hard hit and lots of blood. Didn't want to keep pushing it on so followed up this morning and good blood trail for a 100yds and then disappears into some pretty impenetrable brambles so can only hope it's dead in the middle of there.

It happens, rarely thank goodness.
I jinxed it. Hit one last night and watched it jump around a second or two then lie still. Clipped one last night, The farmers son just said he picked it up on his rounds in the reedy margin on the fenceline, I would have had a look around myself but I had a need to place myself for quite a while on the porcelain at home.

Heard one howling in a depression so could not see. I gave a good squeal but nothing appeared. I waited ten minutes and squealed again. Nothing but then about 400yds away I just happened to catch a fox running a hare but it soon gave up the chase and stopped, it had worked that hare through some game cover, so I squealed for the third time and in he came. He had to cross a hedge and ditch and that's where the video starts....

35 & 36 last night.
Farm 1 have just cut the last crop of silage so headed out for a wander. Saw 1 fox heading in the wrong direction about 600 yards away so didnt bother with it and headed to the other end of the farm. Nowt about so headed back to the truck but spotted a fox in the one field with the cows. Fortunately they took exception to the fox and chased it back my way. Dropped him on the spot off the sticks about 80 yards away. Sorry about the pic...cows came to see what was going on so pic taken over the fence
Headed home but decided to have 10 mins on our top field with the caller. After a couple of minutes a fox appeared at the top of the bank and did the usual sit and watch trying to figure out what was going on. Dropped him to a 150 yard chest shot. He was a big old lad

Yep...sure we discussed it already
Stuff thats big and unruly and charges around at night is best avoided....had a couple of close encounters that I wasnt fond of about 10 years ago so avoid the buggers if I can...yes I am a wuss
