Sorted the gremlin, Hit a little far back as fox moves forward on squeezing off, large portion of fox skywards @0.08 & it piles up in the reeds momentarily @0.25 recovers then finally go's down on the fenceline.

Smelly, I use it on base mag, mag is on the ocular ring, set at x 3.5, top right the laser reading is 239 yards.

Just back in,
#2 & 3 for me tonight. Low numbers I know, but been busy all year on getting shoot ready for the birds.
A mate has been keeping on top of them for me whilst I’ve been busy so at 43 between us.
Two vixens tonight and a dog last week. Packed in at half 10 as it was abit blowy with sideways rain.

I went out Wednesday night and was walking a permission when my sling swivel snapped and sent me rifle and thermal crashing to the ground, thankfully I was on freshly sown fields so no breakages. I walked into one field which slopes down and away from you so you can see all the field which is about 300 meters long and wide. To my disbelief there were 6 foxes in total in that one field. I shot at one and completely missed then thought oh well had another and missed, so thought enough is enough and went home. Checked zero on my rifle yesterday to find the fall had knocked my zero out by 4”, not happy about to misses from the night before but at least it wasn’t me. Went back to the same field lastnight to see 5 out of the 6 foxes there again which was mad, but managed to get the 5 I saw so happy days.

Sounds like the good fairy was near you when you lost the sling point.

Very much so, I will take a re zeroed over the potential problem it could have caused

Did you remove your scope refit and then re zero?
If you didn't then potentially a problem may re occur if you knock or jarr the scope and or rifle

What make is the sling swivel and what part of it broke?

I remove my thermal every time I finish shooting as it is on Innomounts QR because I use it for all 5 rifles.

Sling swivel was uncle mikes, I now have a set of grove tecs on there

I have had at least 3 break. One dented moddy as a trophy
One was inside an empty trailer the other on a concrete road other was on a grass field but I felt rifle slip.
It's a good habit to check your sling swivels every time you put your rifle away.

Last night, on the shoot, I've started digging a bit of bait into two areas. Bloody heat is still bringing flies in, that's the beauty of digging it in, no maggots. Had this dog @ 192yards from a high seat, it wasn't over the bait tbf, it came out of a wildbird cover, and I thought now or never...

I carry my sling in my pocket, unless I need it and that’s getting less likely by the day

Looking the the quality of them yes rescue or hunt drop offs I think, the same landowner has land directly opposite across a busy road and I have hit them hard over there, walk across the road and have these, it is mad, but will hopefully have them cleaned up soon.

We have a rescue centre a few miles away, a couple of pals have a field day at least once a year on the land they look after. Unfortunately, it's just too far away from my patch...
I can't get my head around the effort the do-gooders put in to keep vermin alive, then tip 'em out in the countryside....
