Out last night.

Fair play for patiently sitting for over 1 hour...I have a low boredom threshold so about 15 mins in 1 spot with the caller is all I can stand....unless its a problem fox and then I ll stand, sit and pace for hours hoping the bugger will turn up :)
i do a lot of carp fishing most of the year so sitting and waiting is in my nature
to be honest time flies by, the only thing with seating in a high seat compared to fishing i cant get up and stretch my legs
also it can be a lot colder up there
that first high seat has produced hell of a lot of foxes over the years so is worth waiting a bit
but haven't seen anything from it on the last 3 trips out

I used to do a lot of carping... climbing trees and walking around the lakes looking for carps and baiting spots used to tire me out, I'd come home and need a good rest

That's as much as I can stand! I've waited in this bitter wind just in case my friend turned up. At one point I could see a substantial heat in the woods curled up asleep!!
I need a brew....

Bitter on the tops of Mid Wales tonight!

3 spotted, NV next to unless due to the snow coming in heavy, IR bouncing back 😑😑

Dropped to one of the lower farms, was watching what appeared to be a 3 legged fox work one bank... skylined all the way.

Quick spin around with the thermal to check fields below and behind and this little vixen was sat watching me at 25/30 yards, didn't have time to focus the Alpex, apologies for blurry pic!

Frustrating to see so many perfectly in the thermal and not being able to get a shot off 😵

Lazy devils...suppose I dont take a full film crew and have to worry about hair and makeup so maybe easier for me to wander about   🥰
Horses for courses as they say.

In Essex on the tame foxes just rattle KFC wrappers .

On the Northern grouse moors lay up and wait.

I do a mixture of walking and playing the Foxpro .

Baiting if the farmer allows it.

All work , all that matters is the results.

Was all in jest mate :) 👍 Now go and unknot your panties :lol:🥰

My view is whatever works for you. I would happily sit and wait...just don't have the patience 👍

Received a call from a permission holder asking if l could attend a paddock close by to themselves as the owner had had their cat mauled presumably by a fox and they'd had to have it put down.
Introductions and a survey of the area were undertaken before darkness fell and a suitable position was taken up for the evening.
Nothing fox shaped showed so the rabbit population was adjusted instead, with the HMR earning its keep for the evening, and it wasn't until l had called time on the evening that the first fox could be heard calling, but by then l was so cold it will have to wait until my next visit.IMG_7963.webp
