I’m going to be trying my hand at some butchery in the near future and am looking for some suggestions on what to use for packaging.

Are the budget vacuum packers worthwhile?

How would I get on using run of the mill freezer bags ?

The meat is only for my own consumption and giving to friends and family so I am not overly concerned about presentation.

Lidl vacuum packers are very good. Freezer bags will result in freezer burn to your venison. Trust me on that!

Definitely vacuum pack. If it's only for a small number of deer each year, a budget machine will be fine.
