Pard NV vs Sightline N450s

Another vote for Pard 008 small and light good for 150 yards with built in IR and has simple mounting rail for additional IR i have one on my 17 HMR and have just ordered the RF version for my 223

They are very closely matched tbh but the cleaner light of the PBir L swayed me! Also the Solaris has a very irritating LED light on it!

It is so funny how we are all so different as shooters and quite unique! I find the irritating light superb I no longer risk eye damage to see if the irs on I can see it’s on by the light 💡 just my take on it .

I find it very distracting. I always turn mine off while I’m looking through the scope so you see it’s turned off. If I’m doubt I put my hand in front of the light to see if it’s on, you will see the red glow clearly.
Definitely do not recommend looking into it so see if it’s on! 😂

I have recenty bought a new Anschutz 1517 17hmr, came with a Valiant Lynx 6-24 x 50. I want to have NV over lamping, I Have been looking at adding a Pulsar f455 for night and removing for day time use or am I better off with a Pard 008 and using that in day/night mode ?

I think bob on here glues a piece of mono filament line across the ir, it doesn't effect the IR but shows a white line when you look at from the side if it's on - handy piece of kit

I have thought long and hard about Pard 007 and I suspect I can get one to have a look through my scopes to see if it would work. I have been told the Leupold may be a no go but I don’t know about Kahles or S&B. The drone was awesome but it was sat there doing very little most of the time and I needed to fund a PMII so it had to go. Some of the videos on YouTube show good picture quality with the Pards, N450s and 470s. Having £5-600 on the shelf for occasional use is much easier to accept than almost £2k
You can borrow mine mate, see if it suits prior to purchase

Works nicely through the Schmidt 4-16....you need parallax

Hi
Thinking of getting another NV unit as using the lamp really doesn't float my boat. In the past I ran a Drone 10x which was fantastic if a little bulky. Im looking for first hand experience comparing these units. I would consider a Pard 007 but my scope may not be ideal (too nice and I wont change it for a crap one!) or a Pard 008 and I have seen some solid reviews on the Yukon Sightline N450s and 470s. I seldom use above 8x at night so the 450S would seem like the best bet for me with its 4-16 mag. What are people using and how do you find the image quality, tendency to white out, ability to hold zero and field of view?
Thanks

I'm running a NV008P LRF after a year of the NV008
Some comments

1. Mealiejimmy has measured the scope power on the Pard NV008 and its closer to 7.9X. Which I find is ideal for shooting. I don't bother at all with the zoom
2. Image quality with a 940nm is pretty good to way past 250m.
3. Doesn't white out very much, either on grass or between trees.
4. Quality is pretty good
5. Field of view is good when you roll back the rubber eyepiece which I do before I head out. Its is useless if you wear glasses. Roll it back, see the full screen and if you rifle weighs more than 3.6kg you shouldn't smash your glasses if you put it on a 308Win.

As an aside. I love the 18650 battery and run time, hate the mount (bought a custom blaser mount), like the recording option, no cap for the objective lens, like the cross hairs, like the day colour options, zero is a piece of cake and the light weight. Price is very competitive.

The Yukon Sightline is a good solid well built unit for the money. If you purely want a night vision scope. It doesn't have recording but it does have a nice screen, reticule choice, and fully scaled reticules and within the PIP function.

I really recommend the pard 007. I switch it between my air rifle, .22 rimfire and my .22 250, the three collars live on the guns permanently.
however you will struggle if your scope doesn’t parallax lower than 50 yards. I had a vortex scope on, that only went down to 55 yards on the parallax and the night image for sub 100 yard bunnies was pretty poor. Changed my scope for a hawke one that parallaxs down to 10 yards - and the night image is unbelievable.
I then bought a £70 add on torch from optics warehouse and an adjustable mount for it and now the unit is great out to 400 yards.

Nice. I am really enjoying my intro to NV with my 007a but cannot make my mind up about an add-on lamp. Can I ask which scope you got from OW, plz?
Cheers

The choice of the Hawke on which model did it fall? I have a sidewinder tac 6.5 / 20 but it is not as sharp as I would like

I got the nightfox off optics warehouse. Came in a decent box with some attachments. I was then able to cut the foam out and the pard unit fits in the case too so all my nv gear is in one place.
