Hello all,
I am after a little bit of advice on night vision. I currently have a nitesite eagle, while it is a brilliant bit of kit, I shy away from using as much as I would like due to the size. The fact I do most of my shooting on foot has an impact on this.
I’ve found I am doing more and more fox control and subsequently put in a variation for a 223, which as been granted. I also have a 243, along with 22lr and 17hmr for vermin.

I want to retain the add on night vision over a dedicated scope due to the fact I use my night vision on most, if not all of my rifles.

I have been looking at the Pard NV007, (noticed they have 12 and 16 cam) however I know very little about them. They look like a more mobile bit of kit.

how do they compare to the nitesite eagle? Anyone tried both? I’m interested in peoples Opinions and experiences

Bought one only last week from Remmy700 - received the day after ordering from Scotland to NI and ordered it only after a very helpful chat with Colin. I went for the 16mm and have been very pleased with what it can do using only the onboard IR. I have been trying my full range of scopes with it and agree with other OP advice - 50mm lens and parallax adjustable seems to be the way to go though to be honest there isn’t that much in it. I have bought a second collar so can easily switch from my 17 hmr to 222 and would recommend you do the same. One tip I would give is if it is a misty night you will see very little with it, presumably the same with any other IR (?) as the beam simply bounces off the water droplets and interrupts your picture. Finally I have used it over a 2 hour daylight bunny-bashing session and it is a very efficient bit of kit - on playback you can clearly see rabbits out to 200 yds and quite ruthlessly it shows you why you missed! I made the mistake of taking the good lady with me and she had 4 100yds plus headshots in a row which I had to endure at least three times when I transferred the recordings to my ipad, the video picture is much better than the screen but you should have no problem with either.

I went for the OKcam app eventually as I wasn’t that impressed with those recommended.
 
I have 16mm 007 and am wishing that I had chosen the 12mm as most scopes minimum magnification is 4X, find that the field of view is a bit tight for me.
Also have the PBIRL which is a game changer with the 007.
 
A good upgrade from the nitesite to a Pard007. I stretched its legs the other night on a very sneaky vulpine that has a 6th, 7th, and 8th sense! Sardine & tomato paste on a known distance of 298m and it dropped on the spot, so before anyone tells you pards don't work with high end optics I beg to differ...they just don't like SOME high end optics. Using a laser IR source will give much better viewing but isn't a necessity from the off.

Also got bored and zapped a 225m bunny with the same rig...more testing my abilities than anything. In the video you can see, what I believe, is the thermals on the wind going left to right hence me holding a touch left.

 
What are they like with lower end optics? I currently have hawke, I think vantage but I will need to double check

They tend to work better with lower end s ope and I think hawk and sightedness are very good although I've never looked through them, I can vouch that Element Optics and S&B work well 👍🏻

I use a 16mm pard 007 on my 17hmr and 22-250 and they are great! Paired with a good scope and PBIR L it will be all you ever need!

I have since used a 12mm pard 007 and given the choice I would go 12 over 16 as the FOV is a lot better.

Update on Friday’s post. Bought a cheap Hawke 50mm 3x9 parallax adjustable £56 + p&p and it has made a huge difference to the clarity of the picture so fully recommend it.

I was out with the nitesite eagle last night, the distance it can show a great imagine is amazing, 300 / 400 no problem at all.

how far does the pard have a clear field of view (excuse the pun)

now I am taking into consideration the practicalities of how far I would actually shoot at night.
The bulk size of the nitesite also considered

Cheap hawke on 3x and Pard 16 mm now good for 150yds with inbuilt IR and very good beyond that with add-on but fields are small here so ultimate range n/k I am afraid. I found that the high mounts which came with the hawke helped me achieve a better/comfortable head position too. Also excellent in daytime - 150 yds rabbits with 17 hmr easypeasy! A quality bit of kit.

certainly looks like I need to go the pard route and ditch the bulky nitesite
 
Pard Shipment is due in any day now (factor in Easter Break)
We will have a good quantity of 007’s, 008P and LRF’s available for next day delivery.
Fingers crossed the waiting list will be cleared as well - thanks to all our patient customers, it’s just as frustrating for us as it is you.
