PDS Level 1?

It was posted on a Facebook stalking page where it was shot down in flames, the poster hasn't responded to any questions about it yet.

Perhaps a bit harsh, if the guy feels there is a need and can offer his bespoke courses to a certain niche market then why not? At the very least it should prepare a newbie to a certain standard. Also he does seem to make stalking available to successful candidates which may well be attractive to some.

Not putting the chap down but at 00.28 in the video he says "I have found that many people find it hard to find good quality training".
What is wrong with the DSC1 and DSC2? Does he think that these are flawed or are not widely enough available to new deer stalkers?

Not entirely sure about this

Join the capreolus club and have access to 14 k acres in the southwest

Cost to join 1000 per anum

Cost to stalk 150 a day

Seems to be a person (s) making a business from stalking but calling it a club

Nothing wrong with that but prefer it was not masqued

PDS certificate ,,,,,

What’s wrong with DSC level 1 and 2 accreditation and training presently

Seems another “my training is better than anyone else’s” when in fact the existing training provided with DsC 1 and 2 (to lesser degree) performs perfectly well when delivered by competent individuals

Nice video and web site though

Twenty years Big Game & Deer, How old is this guy?, former detective that would have started as a beat bobby (before the route to detective changed), sounds like he's packed a great deal into his life, maybe the mention of commendation / bravery awards has some significance in training offered that I missed, very slick video & presentation though.

A highly professional video, offering a service/training to those who feel that’s what they want. That’s business and he’s entitled to do that. That said, I can’t see it becoming recognised anytime soon over the DMQ arrangement, which has taken decades to develop and has many key stakeholders.

Notice Andrew Venables is on there from WMS. He knows his stuff and has an ace set up in Wales - probably doing the big game bit.

Saw this as well on the internet and was instantly confused.

I only took DSC 1 to gain the large meat handling qualification to continue selling deer. Absolutely no interest in L2. However having done the course I have a fair amount of respect for the comprehensive syllabus and the effort that went into getting a number of disparate bodies to agree on best practice.

  • Is this new course the same/better/different as DSCL1? If different, what bits of DSCL1 do they disagree with?
  • Is it similarly recognized by SNH, ADMG, BASC, BDS, FCS, LANTRA, SGA, LDNS, NTS, Deer Initiative, IDMF, Irish Deer Management Forum (no idea what some of those letters mean, found on google)
  • Does it provide deer handling certificate so you can tag a carcass?
