Anyone know we’re I can get an picatinny to tripod adapter?
I always use a 1/4 x 20 UNC when making camera adaptors and the like.Drill and tap a 1/4 whitworth hole, you will find the tripod thread is 1/4 Whit as they all are....
Pic male or female?
They are 1/4 whit...not unc...lol... a .243 is a .308 case but not .243 lolI always use a 1/4 x 20 UNC when making camera adaptors and the like.
1/4 Whit is very similar though and may well fit, UNC being 60 degrees whereas Whit being 55 if my memory serves me right. Same TPI.
Far play but what I would say is they found it fitted, all my cameras from the 70, is 1/4 whit so as I said the short distance then they don't bind. Not wanting to make a fuss but this was taken from the Nikon site-
The tripod socket used on Nikon cameras is currently 1/4 in. (ISO 1222). The ISO 1222 refers to 1/4-20 UNC standard.
Lol, I am going to get a 1/4 unc go/no gauge and test it or I won't sleep at night lol..You are most probably spot on in that the UNC fitted and became the standard when the poor Whit fell out of favour! No rework or change to be done to old equipment that way! There are subtle differences, which would accumulate on a longer thread and most probably bind.
I feel bad now that we have gone off on a tangent from the OP's question!
Is it a picatinny rail tapped with a 1/4UNC thread to mount on a tripod that you want? If so shoot me a PM and I will make one for you.
