good news, what about getting rid of the hooks mate instead of wasting our taxes looking after him when all he wants to is blow us up.

Who condemned the courts? ... Your man is still a convicted criminal... I would imagine his profile and incompetence have ended his active career too..

But... Merry Christmas and a Happy Newyear to him and his, all the same. Did they search his other house yet?

After all your dribble throughout this thread and inlight of the huge support this man has recieved and the judgement from the court slapping your rosy cheeks you still insist on talking shite..

1.he is not my man.... He has and will always be his own man

2. Imagine away with your view about his career... This clearly gives you some gratification which imo makes you a right sad prick.... imo ofcourse!!!

Just seen the news and pictures of his little girls, I'm very pleased they courts have seen sense and released him

Common sense at last :british:

Justice has been done and it is probably a fair result.

However there is a much wider issue here, the lack of effective security controls on Crown Servants bringing prohibited firearms into the country.

Do the armed forces not have any procedures in place? If not why not? and if they do why were they not properly enforced? atb Tim

I'll take that as an offensive and personal insult then.

You would evidently allow some people in our society to commit serious firearms crime. I do not need to resort to your sort of language to let you know how inappropriate I think that is.

I believe you might be a F.A.C. holder and so your attitude should be a cause for concern with the authorities....
"imo ofcourse!!!"

+1 ... here here !

I remain unhappy at this being dealt with by Courts Martial.

Ok if an offence takes place within the confines of a secure forces base but Nightingale was living off base.

The property was, as far as I understand, a normal house with normal security,
The firearm was unsecured, ammunition was unsecured and in the same room, there were times the property was un occupied.

So, to my simple mind it is a civillian offence and should therefore be tried under civillian law.

they have plenty of procedures in place they all know you aren't allowed to do it, the military take it seriously hence the court martial and this has made a laughing stock of the whole effort to stop it happening.

Another thread on this topic, of support for the same convicted, firearms law breaker, finally got locked at post #292. I'd have deleted that thread at post #1 and this one too.

It is maybe good news for Sgt Nghtingale that he is going to be home for Christmas. However, it is not good news for British Justice that people who leave illicit, section 5 prohibited firearms carelessly lying around, unsecured, in empty houses can do so without paying the price that our laws dictate. Moreover it really is not good that law is set aside because of media pressure. If we actually changed the law that would be one thing, but that hasn't happened. The law has just been sidelined by media pressure. We ought to see the press in lawyers' wigs and gowns next, as evidently they now "decide".

What I don't understand is, once given the pistol as a gift, why didn't he hand it in the relevant people asap?

I accept his brain injury may have caused memory loss, but he obviously knew he had it after then and yet he chose to do nothing about it?

Is there anyone on this site who can explain why it's OK for the SAS man to be released with a 12 month suspended sentence and yet the civvy reptile dealer is sentenced to a mandatory five years in jail. Anyone......
