I suspect that there are a few of us that feel the same as the years start catching up with us my friend!I've been saying how the focus of my deer stalking has changed over the years, how I've less of a drive to kill something these days. Well, as if to prove the point, I saw this lovely wee thing yesterday evening. After having a look at it, taking a photo and being amazed (again) about how my dog completely ignored it I packed up and headed home early. I'd had a good enough evening out with the dog and the landowner isn't hounding me to get numbers this year, I didn't feel like spoiling the moment by dropping a buck just for the sake of it - I must be softening with age

I wonder if the dog ignored it because of a lack of scent? I believe the lack of scent allows the doe/hind to leave the kid/fawn/calf with less risk of being found by a predator until they're a bit more mature and able to leg it?I've been saying how the focus of my deer stalking has changed over the years, how I've less of a drive to kill something these days.
