Alright folks.
Bit of a strange 1.
Just wondering from the more tech savy on here .
Is there any email scams going about that can cost me money if I only email a very strange account name?
The email account is quite a strange name anyway but then has a.
strange.name.5.00.dx@ gmail.com
I know they're used to be mobile scams where u phoned a strange looking number and it cost u a fortune?
Can they do something similar with emails?
Never seen so many random dots and figures in an email address before.
The long story is seen a tractor on face ache for sale, was for sale mid Dec, which I think was a genuine legit sale ( and im kicking myself i never followed up on it, but had a bad dose of lurgy, and it did seem to be almost too good to be true, but only slightly) although still seemed a cheap price but not silly cheap.
It has appeared again different user name, different location, but using writing and photos from the previous advert just smells a bit fishy.
Eventually replied to my message but she ( new member on face ache) says ad is for her dad and to email him direct on this very strange looking email address.
It may be legit but it just something about it.
I wouldn't be paying money without going to see it and having a trailer with me to lift it there and then, so I'm not worried about that side off it.
But I don't want to email the strange address and somehow get conned by that or it infects me with a virus or something.
I have to admit I'm a bit naive with scams and never understand how 1/2 them work.
U used to often see diggers pop up occasionally online ridiculously cheap but I find it hard to believe anyone would buy anything with an engine and costs a decent amount without actually seeing it 1st.
Usually u say ur just down the road and say ull pop in and it all goes quiet and advert disapears.
Cheers
