Hi all.

What do you to hang the deer on whilst skinning at home? Or do you skin it on a table?

I was thinking of getting a boxing bag bracket to hang off the wall then it might make skinning easier.

I dont have much room in my garage for a table.

I hang mine from the central roof joist in my shed but a boxing bag bracket would work. Just make sure you check the weight capacity as when you're pulling the skin down you're adding your body weight onto the bracket too.

I currently have a pull up bar fixed to the wall of the house. Relatively cheap and rated for 100kg so no issue with me ever overloading it. If I have a larger deer I just attach my pulley directly to it.

I skin off a pully & gambrel, then work my way up and bag as I go. Front legs neck meat loins back legs. :tiphat:

I dont have joist, well i do but its all plaster board and I dont want to be drilling through them etc, I do have a sold breeze block wall though on one side so will look at a bracket or a possible frame or winch to go on it. Thanks all

How much headroom have you got?
If possible, mount an electric hoist at least 9ft off the floor, and hang the deer from that to skin it. Raise it up gradually as you go, and then you are always working at a convenient height and don't end up doing the last bit while kneeling on the floor.

i would say the highest point of the breeze blocks is around 8ft, that might be an option and something I will look at

Electric winch fitted in the loft with the hook coming through a small hole in the ceiling keeps it very neat and clean with maximum height. I know you didn't ask but after skinning to many deer I've come to the conclusion it's easier and a cleaner carcass to skin from front legs to the back legs.

Skin Fallow in garage from hook on a backboard screwed in to ceiling joists, I use a stalking ratchet to aid lifting them

Electric hoist for me as mainly fallow and elastic luggage bungee off one hock to wall fixing to stop it spinning when skinning and breaking down
