Pricing

No real point to this just to vent - but some people's pricing on used goods on here is absolutely ridiculous!! So far off, then bombarded with "ttt" and wondering why it won't sell. Halfwits.

bloody capitalists eh

Ordinary members are told to state a price under the rules , trade members can post without a price . Why should it bother anyone if they feel its too expensive on the post ? Just scroll on or DM the author and ask if you might want to buy
if its not of interest to you its best to scroll on eh ? Some people see value in a higher ticket price and goods can be up too cheap and vice versa

I've sold stuff on ebay over the years, in auction with a 99p starting price, and I've been gobsmacked at the prices some people will pay........the record is an obscure hi fi tonearm that made over a £100..

D.

this is the reason there should be a private sales section AND a trade seller only section . you can look on the private sales for reasonably price items and click the ignore button for those members who are friends with dick turpin, then of course we can totally ignore the trade sellers as they will be 50% + on pricing any way. thats the way forward

Love a good classified rant.
Quite simple really if you want something and like the price buy it, if you don't like the price make an offer or wait a couple of weeks the same items come round again with different sellers and prices.
Very few things in the classified are one off/unique, apart from custom knives.

If trade members or any online retailer doesn't state a price or puts POA on an item, 99.9% of the time it's because it's an absolute rip off.

What makes me chuckle every time is some good person puts up something useful, usually in reloading, Free or Free + post, and you get the same vulture trying to pounce on everything... I won't mention any names...

Quite a few posts knocking traders. I've had two recent very good deals. Couple of bargain priced S and B scopes off Dragonfly ordnance and a Deerhunter smock off Woodland storm. Both received in under 24 hours. Both hugely under retail price.

What complete, and utter nonsense !

Private sales are generally for USED items, and trade is generally for NEW, and if a private sale is for a new item, it's usually because they've bought the wrong thing at some point, can't return it, and just want to get some money back ! You're also not taking into account the trade have to charge VAT, and have business expenses, unlike a private seller.

Secondly, if people buy from the trade, they expect some form of warranty, and come back, because if a trade person/company upsets a customer, they'll be on here trying to give them as much grief as possible, even if the reason for the upset is unjustified. If justified, fill your boots, so hopefully, the next person doesn't have the same issue.

Life's too short. But I did once put a BSA Airsporter Mk I on Gun Trader for £180. And got a reply "Do you accept offers as the going price for these is about £90". I replied that if he'd let me have the details of the person selling that at £90 to let him or her know that I'd take ten at that price. Odd to say I never got a reply! But, in the main, life's too short.

Pointless post in my opinion.

If you cant afford it move on. Or you could ask the seller if they would accept a slightly lower offer. The last two members I have dealt with have been real gents, and no issue with what I've bought.

Also as Lateral has pointed out, classifieds is mostly second hand goods. If you want new material then look under the Traders. AND we are not seperating the two. Perhaps those private sellers in classifieds should be thanking us, Admin, for not charging to sell on here.

You wouldn't get it free on many other places, and with access to over 35,000 potential buyers.

Thanks admin

Sold a good few bits here all good value for the buyer but happy to do so with no selling fees and the not unreasonable understanding that generally we are part of a community. Not to rely on that but it all helps.
