magtech small rifle primers !! i recently bought a 1000 magtech small rifle primers. today at bisley i had seven fail to fire out of fifty round .never ever had a fail to fire with federal 205. i do have 200 cci 400 primers but have not used those in my 223 but will have to give them a try .are magtech primers a known problem <small rifle >

iv fired 1000's both large and small and never had a FTF,

Magtech LR had 5 failures out of one 100 primer tray.

Going back to CCI, used countless CCIs without failure

Strange had the same problem this evening 4x fails out of 40 large

I find they don't seat as nicely as CCI as well

Had the odd failure with magtech, double check that the anvil hasn't dropped out, certainly the cause of at least some of them.

@ashray in your position, I would get hold of some RWS or Geco .

Hi,
Recently bought 1K Magtech small rifle primers and I’m about 1% ftf.
I try them several times before taking them home.
I take the primers out and wack ‘em with the hammer and they go off.
The firing pin indentations don’t look very deep and the primers look quite deeply set in the pockets, so I’m wondering if the deep seating is the cause of the FTFs?
The brass is new PPU and the priming tool is a Lee Ramset.
I’m not being heavy handed when seating primers and haven’t had a problem like this before.
Any ideas please?
