Primers?

Does anyone know if primers in general are closer to coming back into stock? Was looking for some CCI BR2’s a while back in Scotland and the shops just laughed when asked.


Don’t load an awful lot but could do with another 100 but they seemed thin on the ground. Thought more keen reloaders on here might know more?

Buy at least 500 at a time … they are still out there but now youll pay theough the nose.

I can totally get that. Stock piling is what F’s it and also you have to stockpile because of situations like this.

1 or 2 packs would keep me going for a couple of years but looking like hard work. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Not going to loose sleep over it but would be nice to have some to use in the near future 😂
 
At Bisley today, The Trafalgar meeting is on so a few traders on camp. Good news is lots of power available, RS and VIHT, semi good news also quite a few primers from Remington, RWS, Murom, bad news is they are all about £160/1000 and up.

Yep! Can have tons of powder and brass but you need something to make it go bang,(plus maybe a bullet)

That’s some drive! Not at all. Think a lot of folk have stocked up which doesn’t help trying to source some but completely sensible given how things have gone so I’d say you’ve done the right thing 👍

Well that’s good to hear. At least you can get them I suppose which is something! You soon start to realise nothing about this hobby is cheap 😂

Where are you based?
 
By coincidence I was in my local RFD only yesterday and he showed me a mail-shot from his suppliers and associated prices. A quick read confirmed that target/clay pigeon shooting will become or is already the preserve of the rich.
From memory my rifle rounds come out at about £1.40 a go (old prices) so a day at the range is bearable however with these sudden steep increases replacements are going to nudge £2 a pop so even a relatively quiet range day is going to cost £150 plus, excluding transport costs which will put range days out of the reach of many tyro shooters so what price the future? For comparison my local clay shoot charges £7.50 per 25 birds so even say only 4 rounds and say required 150 cartridges (yes I know) comes out at nearly £90 for only a couple of hours.
No wonder young lads having a day at the crows/pigeons is getting increasingly rare.

Keep in contact with local gun shops, I've just been able to source some primers from my nearest RFD that had been returned there from someone who had given up reloading
