Productive Day

Notwithstanding the weather was far from ideal, this morning I finally got to grips with my 6mm PPC. Specifically scope setup and initial load development. While the grouping is acceptable; I'm certain I can improve things and with a stiffer load, the thing that most pleased me is my modified Optilok bases that use single S&K rings has worked out perfectly.

Also installed a vintage scope to my 6.5X55 Sauer 90 and made a start on load development using all-copper. Pleased with scope even though the 1st FP thick reticle doesn't allow overly precise aiming, but far from satisfied with the tightest all-copper group.

Yes, each of those 5 shots will put down a deer but such accuracy ain't gonna win any sporting rifle competitions!

Lastly, re-zeroed my 222 Remington 600 Stutzen after a very heavy fall, and went on to shoot a satisfying 5-shot group. Not bad for an 18" barreled full stock rifle?

Happy that you are happy and I am sure you will improve the groups, but these posts always remind me not to go down the “ Home loading” rabbit hole, I tend to do everything slightly at an obsessive level and with home loading that rabbit hole turns in to a warren with no end IMHO

Fair point but you tell me where one may purchase factory loaded 6mm PPC ammo and I'll be there tomorrow!

I may well try some factory loaded all-copper 6.5X55 as I won't be using them with any regularity until required to.
