Pulsar APS2 battery

Hi Guys I am in a mess, I was out last night and my Thermal Spoter ran out of battery so I just removed the used one and replaced it with a charged one in the dark.
But it would not start up.
I switched on the torch and discovered I had tried to fit a Pulsar APS2 battery into my InfiRay Spoter. It fits perfectly but I have no way of getting it out as the InfiRay battery has a latch that you can raise, twist and out it comes.

The spotter is now useless as battery is too short and wrong connection terminals anyway.
The wrong battery is flush with the spotter case so cannot grip it in anyway to remove it.

The question is how can I remove the APS2 battery safely? I do not want to set the battery on fire by drilling into it and burning the spoter.
It has a plastic case around with the battery inside, can I drill this case and with an 1/8th drill and put in a screw and pull out the battery and case with some grips?
Drill the flush case top as above and lever out the battery plus case.

Any workable suggestions please would be gratefully received.

Do not attempt to drill the battery as you have already mentioned the fire risk with lithium ion battery being penetrated is very risky indeed.

You say the battery is now flush with the spotter housing, I'm presuming the flange of the pulsar aps2 is preventing it going any further if this is the case that's a good thing, if however it's not there is a possibility of pushing it further in.

I'd glue something to the battery that will give you the leverage to get it out safely, say some form of super glue or similar, should you decide to try this method its important that both surfaces are clean and free of dirt grease ect, also allow adequate curing of said glue to ensure it gets the required grip.

It's about all I can think of other than possible use of a small flat head screwdriver try to very very gently pry under the battery flange to get it out.

Right now I can't think of any better suggestions, someone else might chirp in with something better.

Things like these are difficult without actually seeing it up close first hand.

Anyway hopefully you will get it sorted and I'm confident you will.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks Guys especially Scottb123 I thought the glue suggestion might be the safest option so started that last night. I looked at my glue stock and would you believe it they had all gone hard bar one 2 part epoxy resin type, so no point in future trying to pre-empt a use and buying it.

It requires 24 hours to achieve max strength so will try to pull this evening. If that does not work I will try the hot glue stick that might just work.

I tried the small fat head screwwdriver but no good, I could not get it in far enough at all. I did not want to damage the case of the spotter as it is still under warranty which may well nullify the warranty if I did . I could try drilling the edge of the battery case to try and lever it out I guess.

Have just found an unopened Glue stick gun and glue in the tool cupboard so have a back up plan before I go and buy some super glue.

Ps I would put up a photo but at my age no facebook account and it has been blocked due to some infringement that I do not know how I commited it. Life is a bitch at times!!!

Will keep you posted thanks Guys.
