Pulsar or Nocpix thermal scope

I’m looking at getting a Thermal scope, leaning towards the Pulsar Thermion XP50 LRF. I like the look of the Nocpix but haven’t seen them in person, how do they stack up against each other? I don’t like the build quality of the Hik units so not considering them.

I know it doesn't really answer your question but don't be put off with the build quality of Hik, Im still on the Thunder TQ50 V1 and it has been faultless and it gets used most nights, My mate has also just gone from Pulsar to Hik, I cant comment on Nocpix

Like above , I was always pulsar fan but seems like there getting left behind with the newer brands performance and price wise.

I’ve always been a fan of pulsar too, that’s why I’m having trouble deciding. I have a Telos and think it’s great.

@Joe_herts

Just seen, no connection........

No compitition nocpix easy

Really ? You think they are that much better than an XP 50 Thermion ? I have a thermion and thinks its amazing so im starting to feel the need to look at one of these Nocpix - i really dont know why as my thermion does everything and more i will ever need but i am intrigued

I had the infiray th50 v2 before the nocpix. The infiray was better than the pulsar and the nocpix is better than the infiray. Thermal keeps advancing and the xp50 has been left behind. Have you checked out some of the footage

Yeah i have - hand on heart - i dont see that its much - any better than mine - and most of it on u tube is 50-100 yards
The think i like with mine is the detail it gives and how it is still usable in rain / mist - i have looked through others that soon give up the ghost

Thanks for you feedback though Jeff - i will certainly keep an eye out locally for someone with one

I didn’t find any of the infiray that good which is why I’ve been hesitant on the Nocpix.
I know the pulsar is a great unit. I have a Telos and it out performs most of the Hik thermal spotters when we have had them out at night sxs.
Ideally I want to see them all on a demo night but don’t have anyone local to me who has them.

If you have only used Pulsar thermals then the image displayed on the Chinese thermals (principally HIK and NocPix) is quite different
Some people prefer the higher brightness and higher contrast images in the HIK and NocPix thermals compared to the lower brightness and lower contrast (but more in target detail) images on the Pulsars
What can't be argued is that the NocPix produces a more detailed image than the Pulsar simply because the NocPix sensor uses 12 micron pixels compared to the 17 micron pixels in the Pulsar
It's a fact that nobody still uses 17micron sensors except Pulsar and then only in their XQ and XP models
Remember that Pulsar are basically an East European company with roots going back the the Soviet Union where nothing was ever thrown away and stuff continued to be used far beyond its sell by date (e.g T34 tanks in Ukraine)
It seems that mentality still exists in the Pulsar management today
Simple physics tells us that If we compare what a single sensor pixel can "see" at 100m, then for the NocPix its a square with sides 24mm long, and for the Pulsar, it's a square with sides 34mm long
That makes the level of physical detail in the NocPix image about 40% higher than in the Pulsar image.

Cheers

I have both the HIK Stellar 3.0 SQ50L and the Nocpix Ace H50R.
I find myself liking the Hik more because the buttons are easier to operate at night with gloves and is slightly lighter in weight.
The Nocpix has more background detail, which is an advantage if you don`t know your ground well, the Stellar has a bit more target image detail with its zoom pro feature, but there isn`t much between them.
I think the Nocpix will be in the classifieds soon.
