How reliable is the pulsar compared to hikmicro? Just debating on changing brands as I’m having some really bad luck with hik unfortunately.

My first xq38 is around 8/9 years old fires up spot on sometimes freezes (as they do) no range finder thank God, used it this afternoon and beyond dark. Found a fox & whacked it.
With the xq38 we unpicked the battery pack and re soilded 2 new 18650 flat tops in 10mins saving 70 quid

I’m on my third pulsar spotter, mine is switched on 8-20 hours a day pretty much every day for 5 months over the winter and then used extensively over the summer guiding clients. Iv never had one break. Iv had a couple of friends have to send them back but on the whole they have been very reliable. The only thing to note is that warranty work is definitely slower than with hik.

Had a 35 one for over a year - don’t know how I ever managed without it. Bought a spare battery at the time but never had the need to use it as battery life is excellent. Detection range is excellent too…

Good - but did have one scope go back that was then replaced with "new" - but as i did not return the instructions - the eyeshade - the charger and the cloth - they actually took those out of my "new" scope - The warranty on the "new" scope also started at the same time as the old broken scope !

The older scopes also have an issue in my opinion with the charging port - lead

Brilliant product but i would now look elsewhere after these issues having spent tens of thousands of pounds

I'm not sure why you felt claiming on the warranty entitled you to a new set of accessories or a free warranty extension.
One might make a case for the warranty period being extended by the time elapsed between return and repair/replacement, especially if that is a matter of weeks rather than days, but you seem to think your claim should have reset the clock on the warranty to zero.
The cost of the warranty is included in the cost of the scope. It covers the equipment. It doesn't warranty the warranty.

All thermal units can have their faults but in my experiences the pulsar units are tough, the abuse they can take and still perform for years is truly a credit to their exceptional build quality.

I've used hik and a few other units but don't have the long term experience I have with pulsar, the helion range even today I'd say you'd be hard pressed to better for a true hunting thermal that will get the job done in spades, likewise the axions have proved their robustness also over the years.

Now don't get me wrong the Hik are very nice indeed and seem well built, but honestly I think pulsar if they lose slightly in image more than make up for it in total robustness.

Had my Helion XQ50 over 5 years now, well & truly used, & never missed a beat. Yes, there’s undoubtedly fancier, shinier & cheaper stuff out there now but I’ve got no regrets👍

If it was a new car under warranty - and i had used the spare wheel - i would not expect the manufacturer to remove the spare ?
When i have had a new phone under warranty or appliance i have never had the instructions or in the case of a washer the box opened and the pipework removed
Surely if its new the warranty period should start again ?

I’ve had pulsar XQ50F 5 years from when they first came available, battery still good and works considering it’s had a hard life.

Had a problem with the latest XQ 19, two went back, same customer. Had another customer break a trail and a thermion, he also shot a hole in his truck. One other thermion had a internal battery problem, this is over 10 yrs.

Shot a hole in his truck??

You have to ask questions 😂😂

He tried to blame the safety on the new Mauser he bought off us, he layed the rifle loaded (30-06) on the back seat of his ranger, put the safety off to open the bolt and apparently it went off putting a hole in the opposite door.

Why would you lay a loaded rifle in the back seat of your truck??? FFS 🤦

I sort of agree on the accessories for what they are worth leave them in the box (if it is a new unit) they will probably be left on a shelf somewhere anyway.
I completely agree on the warrantee, if it is a new device it should come with a full warrantee. I went through this with my Telos.
Apart from that they are brilliant devices and work well, have been using them for 5 years now, build quality is robust.

Pulsar's early digital rifle sights were notoriously unreliable. I'd imagine if they reset the warranty every time they issued a new unit to replace a faulty one, it would have been the death of them

I had a new unit issued to me under these circumstances, so I sold it immediately because I had no faith in the new unit holding zero. It also failed within a few weeks, and the warranty was only valid to the original purchaser.. it ended up as a right old mess
