Quad insurance

Just posted a request for any updates on who you're using for quad insurance in another old thread but realised it's tucked away in off topic and probably the wrong place. So far for a new Honda TRX520 road registered, agri use:

NFU - won't quote on single quad, only if I insure multiple vehicles
Performance Direct - won't quote - they couldn't say why, just no available quotes from underwriters
Adrian Flux (Bikesure policy) - £681
Rowetts brokers - £465
Lycetts - awaiting quote
County Insurance - awaiting quote

Where are all these £120-200 premiums folk historically mention?? Has the insurance market really gone up that much in a couple of years? Or am I doing something wrong?

Mines on Agri and insured with Bikesure. £150 or so.

Edit - just realised Bikesure are brokers. Do you know who underwrites you policy please? Might help a lot

Direct? I might ring them rather than through Adrian flux - their policy was basically a road policy rather than agri and they really didn’t get what I was after.

KGM Underwriters. Have you tried Bikesure?

My renewal was £143 for the year. Fully comp. I have a NCB of 9 years, the bike has to be garaged overnight, which it is, and I can't take a passenger on the road.

Bikesure via Adrian Flux was £681 for me but am going to try them direct on Monday morning - I suspect the Adrian flux option was more a road quad policy rather than agri. thanks for the info.

Turns out Bikesure is Adrian Flux. When you call Bikesure it goes straight through to Adrian Flux!

Had another chat with them and they only provide road based policies for agricultural vehicles (apparently!?). They don't do agricultural insurance per se. So despite being quoted for a fully comprehensive insurance policy (at £681!!) I am not insured when riding offroad. Feels like completely the wrong sort of policy for me (and definitely the wrong sort of price!).

@MagicLantern and @wytonpjs - might be worth a quick check of your policies to confirm you are actually covered when using your quad offroad (if you want / need to be).

I’m paying circa £140, done through my local broker, it actually came down this year. A lot depends on local crime stats I believe. As you say, NFU (no f-ing use) won’t touch them unless you already have vehicle insurance with them, our house insurance is with them and they wouldn’t touch it.

I've gone with bikesure. £680 ISH fully comp.
I just looked at it being likely it gets stolen. That's a 21 plate Polaris sportsman.
Be interesting to see who else does it.
I tried the NFU for my Hilux some years ago. They said I didn't live in the country. So I've never bothered with them again.

I have a road legal gator ( NOT agri reg) and for the last 3 years have insured it with Flux until this last renewal whereby they wanted an extra £100 and would nt reduce it despite having a claim free year so I sacked em off and went with BJP Insurance Brokers Ltd at £238.00. NFU wouldn't entertain insuring me unless I had other kit to insure as well.

Cheap insurance can be very expensive.
Couldn't agree more.
Cheap insurance is absolutely the best ........ until you need to claim; when you find you've probably wasted your money !
Having had a dozen or more ATV's, gators etc, I had plenty of grief when I changed from the NFU for a year or two !
If all you need is a piece of paper for Third Party road use then good luck !
NFU, or equivalent if they won't play and then read the small print - as usual.

I dont like flux as an insurance company. They charge for everything. I didn't realise bikesure was them until I'd paid. They would charge to cancel. They did it on my hilux once. But I had to buy my quad as a mate was selling it and I couldn't not have it.
I will try BJP next. Would you have a contact number for them
