Quad sticks - any insider secrets I should know?

I've been shooting off a primos trigger tripod for the last few years, but I'm definitely going to move to quads after trying a few sets at the Stalking Show last weekend.

Anything I need to consider from those of you whom have been using them for years?

I saw a post somewhere saying that carbon ones are warmer on the hands in winter, which is something I hadn't considered and probably wouldn't have discovered until after buying a set of metal ones!

Currently leaning towards Viper-Flex Styx FlexAny other things that might help me make a decision abiut which to buy? (currently

Make a set of B&Q under £20.00 ones get used to shooting off them then upgrade to what you want.
Personally I use B&Q ones with a @takbok kit as you can miss with a cheap set just as well with a £££ set :tiphat: and yes they can be £££ x2 lol

Viper flex are really good
Had them up in Scotland last year it was snowing and blowing a gale, and yes they are cold to handle and I’m used to working outside everyday for the last 30yrs. Most of the time they are fine but in the extreme cold my fingertips could feel it.

I would take either the DIY/Takbok route, for seeing it f quads are you - or go all in for some Hill's sticks. The latter give you everything the VFs do, plus the ability to track your target smoothly across a wider arc than any other design.

Takbok kit is very good and carbon is nice in the hands. I previously used a diy set up where you have v at front and back, but find the flat front yoke very helpful for minor adjustments.

My own humble opinion;-
Had cheaper aluminium quad sticks, used well over 4 or 5 years.
Upgraded to viperflex carbon fibre, it seemed like a ot of money for what are essentially "sticks"....but they're lighter, stronger, not cold to the touch and above all, near silent to operate.

I've got some wood ones. They originally were made by a chap on here about 10-12 years ago and I found them hard to get on with as they came all folded up. but over time I've modded them with tape and what not and some pipe lagging and they work just like any other quad sticks. I bet I could make some the same for about a tenner. I thought about upgrading to some carbon ones but I use mine as a handle when dragging beasts off the hill aswell and I don't think some of the expensive ones on offer would be up to the job.
