Quad sticks - any insider secrets I should know?

HI. I was in the same situation as you. Some did some research and came to the conclusion that the DIY route was best for me. Contacted Takbok through this site and to be honest it has been one of my better stalking purchases. The quality and design of his 3D printed components is exceptional.

My tips as a mjoelner alu sticks owner would be:
  1. Cammo wrap tape deals with the cold hands problem - can't remember what brand I used I needed x2 rolls
  2. Paracord between the sticks so that they open at the perfect length to support your rifle really helps with faster deployment.
  3. Practice moving them left to right and right to left so you can track a moving target before you have to do this in the field. There's always an inconvenient log branch in though...

Been a Viperflex fan for a decade - super strong and stable, that was until I recently bought the Takbok kit and a few carbon poles.

My Vipers haven’t been out since…

With 16mm pipes on the Vipers vs 12mm on the carbon Takboks, the weight and handling difference is noticeable.

Piece of shrink tube sorts out a bit of grip and insulation.

One of my best buys. 👍

When it comes to sticks I’ve just about seen it them all!

If you want to waste £300 and be ripped off by viperflex that’s your choice!

Or you could get a @takbok kit and make your own.

I have 2 sets, my main set is now over a year old, I messaged @takbok and said if they last a year with me, they’ll do well👌

Viperflex carbon are quality and with the 5th leg make them a very stable platform to shoot from.

For years I used b@q canes and they were fine. Recently got the 3d printed from Rory and they are definitely an upgrade, particularly the ability to pan. I’ve just electrical taped them on so if I damage the sticks I can just swap them out.

In ancient history, I used two hazel sticks bolted together with washers, in about 2000 I started using two B&Q canes bolted together. About 10 years ago I bought some viperflex quad sticks and about 5 years ago I bought their fifth leg. I would say each of these stages has been an improvement on the one previously, once I got used to them. 50% of the time the fifth leg remains unused and clipped on, but its helpful if you have time to setup of wait for a deer to turn. I now zero the rifle with quad sticks and the fifth leg, which shows how steady they are and this is not something I would have felt comfortable doing with previous setups.

Don't believe it. When it's freezing outside, your carbon sticks will be cold... unless you wrap them in good old Ebay vet wrap, then they will be much kinder on ungloved hands.
Couldn't agree more. I sold my Blaser ones as I found them really harsh (a really 'hard' feeling) on ungloved hands. Strangely, my unprotected metal 4 Stable Sticks ones proove no problem at all.

blaser quad sticks are the worst of the bunch,
Whoever invented that swivel top of the front V is obviously not a deer stalker!

Must be a brain-dead idiot he works in front of a computer screen about as practical as a kick in the left borlick! 🥜

I’ve using them for years, my go to shooting platform. Practice setting them up many times before you go on a hunt. If you don’t they’ll frustrate you. One mastered they are brilliant.
