Question for the thermal buffs

I also have a spare battery and let each battery discharge completely before recharging. Is this good practice or is it ok to top up batteries after each outing? I've owned one battery since buying my XQ38 Quantum and it is starting to discharge rather more quickly than the more recently bought battery.

I use a pulsar 30 lite and frequently put into sleep, as far as I understand this simply turns the screen off.

makes a massive difference to battery length

I‘m running 2 batteries on my XP50 which will last me all night on fox watch with the screen on, during easier times I tend to swap them weekly and top up after every outing.

The other ‘trick’ is to hold the unit at an angle to give a diamond view of the screen to give the widest/tallest field of view......slows down the scan speed too, anything that catches the eye can then be inspected in more detail.....:thumb:

I use a XQ50 quantum and have always put into standby 1. to prelong battery life and 2. to cut down the screen giving away my position, whichever way you do it, stick to a system so it becomes second nature, i touch my power button and by the time it's to my eye it's ready to go.

When you switch it off/sleep is when you’ll need it in a hurry!!

Using it frequently, you'll find that it becomes second nature to give the button a quick pip, as you bring .it up to your eye, no time waiting lost, the Quantum models at any rate awaken instantly on a short touch of the power button, unlike our lass.....

I sleep mine too, I do all my foxing on foot so don't like the light from the eyepiece shining on you, probably doesn't make a difference but in my head it does!
