Quick release mounts for sako 75

When I had a Sako 75 I took a scope in Optilocks off for some reason and put it back on, same torque on the dovetail clamps and zero was the same.

I'm not a fan of Optilocks but in this case as long as they were set up properly the first time the repeated accuracy was pretty acceptable.
I do this its hard to notice impact change even in nil -no wind

I have qd mounts on my .375 . After a few shots they tighten up even more. I cannot remove them by hand. I use the pliers on my leather man to turn the wing nuts.
I discovered this before going afield. Confirm that you can do it manually or take a tool.

Hello,

I use these bases and QD rings (leupold) on all my rifles from 6.5 prc and 6.5x68 with no problems at all, fitted on Sako 75 and tikka t3x actions

Removed scopes all the time and return to zero within half an inch from zero on worst case zero checks in my experience to date.

kind regards
Hi

Thanks for the reply.
Good to hear another great review from these mounts. I have no doubt that they will be grand!

Thanks

hello all,
I am looking to buy two sets of quick release mounts for my sako 75. I want to be able to swap between my thermal and my day scope. I have been having trouble finding a set the will clip straight on to my rifle without the need for a rail. Can anyone recommend a good quality set that will hold zero?

Either get a thermal front clip on or another rifle setup.

QD mounts are always a compromise.

Have you had any issues with the the qr mounts yourself?
Everyone I’ve spoke to highly recommends them.
Front clip on thermals I have seen used before and I would try any other options before using them again.

Thanks

Yup, have used Recknagel/ERA TAC QR rings (which people seem to rate).

First thing I did was disable the quick release feature.

Quick adjust/release also usually means accidental adjust/release is possible.

Having witnessed a number of shooters having ‘difficulty’ achieving zero and then holding it, the problem has always been a lack of awareness in how to setup both the front and rear base if using high-quality German QR rings. As you’ll be aware, there is a locking grub screw that ensures the forward tensioning screw; the one that determines ring spud pressure, stays in place at the desired setting.

This would be one of the screws you’ve used to disable the QR feature, so readers can well imagine the impact on accuracy if it is loose. I’ve even seen mounts where the locking grub screw was missing.

Remove the lever entirely and bin carefully replace in box. Not sure how having a lever to release the £3k+ scope off the rifle is an advatage when moving through a Sitka spruce thicket. ( 40mm rings for a Swaro Ds, not my choice)

This was the picatinny version too, so I'd imagine @Klenchblaize would have an aneurysm when sighted.
