Carl, a mixture of both. The protesters are not isolating or even safe distancing and of course the ones that work for the NHS are exposed more often and even wearing full PPE are still suffering.

Don't get me wrong, the protesters are a bunch of morons behaving like this during a global pandemic.

However, they are a tiny fraction of the good, hard-working ethnic-minority people in this country who are saving lives of all colours on a daily basis.

Of course the protests are ridiculous during a global pandemic. However, of the several-million 'ethnics' in London, only a couple of thousand turned out to protest. The rest were all busy at work.

Same over here. We've very low death toll and infected numbers mainly due to early lockdown and people taking responsibility. Government guidelines say max 50 people and social distancing. Demonstration in Oslo friday. 15 000 crammed together. Absolute ****wits. Some polititians calling for 14 day quarantine of every demo participant.

Because linguistic and social exclusion of older-generation immigrants distance them from effective healthcare?
Because the diet of socially and economically excluded people is generally less healthy?
Because there is a genetic tendency towards diabetes in some south Asian communities?
Because grandparents live with the family?

Nope it is not because they work for cash in hand but in some cases gather together in close contact in ghettos.
Stand outside our local hospital and count numbers receiving healthcare. Linguistic problems are the problem of those who don't bother to learn our language and in the case of some youngsters a patois I can't understand.
Nothing to stop their diet being healthy, it seems the choice of the young is takeaway cr.p.
Disease can become endemic among those who marry close relatives and live in large numbers in close proximity.

After seeing what went on in London last night I am losing sympathy with "Black lives matter" etc. When protesters can threaten the lives of others over the death (wrongful) of a violent criminal it starts to get me questioning their intent.

I've not noticed many black people being shot or killed by white police officers over here, and what happens elsewhere is nothing to do with us.

You beat me to it Carl. Race is a simple "fact" that can be measured and statistics easily placed on. Social demographics and the increasing gap between the poor and the wealthy is harder to quantify and also something that a society based on capitalism doesn't want to admit to.

It was only a few years ago that the 8 richest people in the world had the same combined wealth as the poorest 3.5 billion people. I imagine its even fewer than 8 now.

Inner City Low income areas are a completely different country to the rest of the UK. Crampt housing with many living in one flat, low levels of income ( and a disproportionate amount spent on rent), poor schooling and very poor prospects, targeted and run by gangs With high death rate from stabbing, and yet within a very short distance -as in a few tens of yards you have very wealthy areas with lot of conspicuous expenditure. Take a walk from any of the London Stations towards the centre and you will pass high rise tower blocks in serious decay, yet turn the corner and beautiful town houses with rangerovers and Ferrari's parked in underground garages.

Add in several months of lockdown, a high death rate from Covid, and and even fewer prospects and with a government that is clearly making it up as it goes along and The behaviour of Cummings et all you have an utter tinderbox waiting to explode.

We can only be guided by what we are told by the experts so unless you are a Virologist and have some advice to share i'm not sure where your argument is going, anybody who has symptoms is being told to get tested I thought that was the message and seems fairly straight forward to me. A recent study showed around 5,000 new cases are detected per day but obviously if you don't show symptoms that only by a random test you will get noticed. I think only 25% maybe asymptomatic .

I don't think that you can get an accurate no. of infections figure without mass testing for both C-19 antigens & antibodies across the population as a whole, in the absence of which the R number is purely a matter of conjecture. Prof. Ferguson's track record on this -500,000 deaths without lockdown & 250,000 with it, and on other previous disease outbreaks such as Foot & Mouth is not good, he also disregarded his own advice as soon as it impinged on his sex life as have other medical experts & politicians when it suited their convenience. And the policeman arresting him was kneeling on his neck because Floyd was fueled up on methamphetamine. I'd have knelt on his neck too. I would hope not to have killed him but there's no way I'd have wanted him getting to his feet. If he had he'd probably have been shot.

That's the problem. The policeman may have been a bit of a bruiser in the past and could well have been the reason the other officers let him deal with Floyd. I have no doubt whatsoever that the Police officer never intended to kill him, more like he was worried that the 'I can't breathe' was a ploy for him to be released and that may have enabled him to kick off again with serious repercussions.

No Carl just truthful. Anybody can drag themselves out of a poor situation and better themselves whatever colour they are. Just take a look at how many come down out of the hills in Nepal just for a one in a thousand chance to get in our army.
I made it from a small school where we were taught by two teachers 5-8 and 8-11year olds in two classes. If you've never had a hole in your shoe and a cardboard liner you can't talk to me about poverty.
We had rationing and kids who still wore "Daily mail" boots or Wellington's to school and we all had a thunderbox and bucket toilet at home.
I feel so dreadfully sorry for those who live in modern housing and flats (not), if that makes me incorrigible then I must be.
