Where do you find the recoil rating for a specific calibre?

The numbers can be very misleading, given the inconsistency in rifle weight.

I assume calibre is irrelevant, and bullet weight v velocity & rifle weight can be compared ?

Also powder - though not easily measured by us - ''perceived recoil'' is partly to do with the rate of burn

Big fat cartridges with slower propellant (as the case has greater volume for a slower burn powder) have a lower 'perceived' recoil than the thinner guys

More 'bite' from the faster powders
