Recommended medical proforma providers

your own GP if possible, as they have to provide the records to all the third party businesses anyway, so are in the time loop whatever happens.

MedCert have been good the couple of times I have used them.
They were chasing up the reception at the docs just a few weeks ago when I was going through my renewal.
Can't fault them to be honest.

It's a preemptive move. My son failed to register with a GP in Edinburgh where he now resides. I consider Edinburgh to be a den of wokery and bleeding heart conscientious objector types, so anticipating push back when he registers then immediately rocks up with his mention of guns...

I did look at using one of these services to be told, when they said they hadn't yet received the medical records from my GP Surgey that "You can just send us your copy direct to us instead of us waiting for the copy to come direct from your GP." I politely declined the invitation and had it done elsewhere (at my GP Surgery for £133) as my having "put hands" on the records that they make their assessment from is wholly against what is required by the law. Eventually this may then come to the attention of the authorities and I can foresee possible immediate revocations of FACs and SGCs where the assessment was made by that particular provider.

I'd disagree. Edinburgh in it is day sustained three very very high class gunmakers- Dickson, MacNaughton, Fraser and a number of other retail premises of such as Alexander Henry, Mortimer and Alex Martin. Even into the late 1970s. Your son may be pleasantly surprised that the practice he registers with may have those who themselves, or past forebears, enjoyed shooting or had patients that did.

you may find even if the GP is willing to do the reports he will not do so for new six months after your son registers with the GP. Had a friend who’s GP would not engage in the process he tried to change GP practice and whilst the GP practice would accept him they would not do the report until he had been with the practice for six months.
He use Medcert.

Indeed and better to ask and find out and then at least those alternative plans can be activated. Good post!

Thank you, hence my initial post, the whole debacle just reeks of potential arsery on behalf of the GPs.
