Red Hind Large Lymph Node Swelling

I spotted a red hind laid up on her own and not looking right. I shot in head and on external inspection looked a bit thin but no other abnormalities. On opening stomach and removing intestines i was confronted with a small grapefruit size liquid swelling on mesenteric chain. Alarm bells rang and i inspected sub maxillary, retropharyngeal, bronchial and portal nodes. All a bit swollen but not pussy or cheesy. All organs inspected but no sign of any lesions, abscesses or other abnormalities which might have suggested TB. A local farm is currently down with TB and Devon still a bit of a hotspot.
I inspected coat around stomach area but could find no obvious injury which might have caused localised infection.
The game dealer was shown photos and we both agreed to put whole carcass in waste bin for incineration.

The photo with puss on node has not come from the node sitting on top. That was incised and ok albeit enlarged. The

A bit of a puzzle! Any starters for 10?
