I dislike steel calipers because they're clumpy, and too big to handle. . . AND they're right-handed. No matter how accurate a particular make may be, nobody needs 1/1000th" precision for ordinary reloading. You only need to check case lengths and diameters approximately.
Many years ago both Lyman and RCBS sold plastic caliper sets for reloaders with vernier & digit measurements, so I bought one of each. These are much lighter and easier to operate with one hand, so I use them all the time for convenience. The steel set come in handy to check and calibrate the plastic ones now and then, but they're all close enough for routine work. For checking bullet diameters to 3 decimal places I use a micrometer anyway
