REM 700 help

The top rifle in that picture looks to be a Savage...which is neither a long or short action. It's a Savage action. The bolt baffle determines the bolt throw, not the action in a Savage. It's one of the reasons they are inexpensive rifles...they only make one basic action across all their Model 10's/110's/11's/111's. Just the bolt heads and bolt baffles change.

ETA: BTW, if you ever have to run a .223 Savage in an AICS magazine'ed chassis, you'll have to grind another .25" off the baffle to get the bolt throw long enough to feed the magazine. Not a big deal since they are sintered metal. Grinds off fairly easy.

I have a Remington 700 223 PSS and it is a longer action and bolt than my Remington 700 308 VS.
I owned the PSS from new and the VS was a 220 Swift I had rebarrelled..just to add my bit...lol

Off piste - but, it’s a shame that there isn’t a medium length aics mag or similar so one doesn’t have to resprt to using long action behemoth mags if you want a mag driven rem repeater

This is another reason why T3 is one of the do all rifles (alongside ssg3000) 😇
