Taking a chance posting this I know! In my area of East Sussex I try whenever possible to to assist my local animal rescue org for the lost cause injured deer (private land...yes with permission:)) some members on here local to me may have been contacted by myself for help when I cant attend to perform the HAD. The Org I support perform NO drug administration to deer whatsoever and for me that's a good thing, those that know me are well aware of my battles with a few Animal Rescue Orgs whereby they have drugged a deer and then released it into the wild well within the withdrawal period.

Anyway, slightly off my patch, another equally good Rescue Org has contacted me as it seems their equivalent 'deer man' (can be a female) has retired and now they are stuck for advice and possible HAD duties, the area to be covered is around Tunbridge Wells in Kent, naturally it's voluntary, the only benefits I can list are that you are ending suffering for the species we think so much of, you'll meet some interesting land owners with of course the 'possible' prospect of a permission but naturally that's gauged on a case by case basis and not the primarily reason for doing this. This Rescue Org do have the capacity to take in orphaned fawns and I have used them a few times when I've had the Doe DoA via an RTC and the fawn is either sat with mum or close by.

An extract of their email is below to give a flavour, by all means if you are local and interested in putting your name on a list please do PM your details

When we receive calls about deer, we gather as much information as possible. If the deer is on the road, we advise callers to contact 999 because of the immediate danger to both the animal and road users. If it's off the road, we generally advise calling 101 and asking for the local deer warden.

Where we're now struggling is with more complex situations, such as entangled deer, collapsed or injured animals, orphaned fawns, or incidents on private land. These are the cases where we really need knowledgeable people we can turn to for advice or practical assistance.

Having spoken with you previously, I know you have a great deal of knowledge and experience, so I wondered whether you might be able to help us in some way. Even if you weren't able to assist directly, I'd be incredibly grateful if you could recommend anyone you trust who would be willing to act as a point of contact for our reception team when these situations arise.

Well done J. I always take a look at the locations you post on here and Facebook, to see if it's doable for me.

Unfortunately for this one, I'm more East Sussex like you.
